Rowing isn't supported (and probably won't as it's "not currently planned" according to Fitbit) by any Fitbit device. As workaround, you can use Workout as generic type of activity and rename it later. However, if you are looking rowing specific exercise providing metric like distance, power or strokes then you won't find it on Fitbit.

Do you happen to know another smart watch that does track rowing?

@YetiFit most of them (my one does, indoor and outdoor). Can't tell you the brand though as my posts were being removed for mentioning it.

Indoor rowing machines, outdoor rowing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding, and canoeing are all great exercises, Fitbit should have apps for them.

Thanks for the reply! I have since researched this and turns out the other two major smartwatches has really robust support for rowing. Guess it is time to ditch the Fitbit. The only thing going for it is that its battery lasts a couple of days. It's really ridiculous that Fitbit doesn't support this when everyone else does. Pretty much every major gym in America has rowers.

I really want this too. Just upgraded to Sense but will have to upgrade to a smarter brand device since this is important to me.

@laureldj Be sure to check if the other brands do auto sensing for rowing machines. I don't think that's a very common feature.

@eezeepee I don't know any brand (from big sports brands like Garmin, Polar and Suunto) autodetecting rowing.

Both Apple Watch and Samsung support rowing as an exercise. I am not asking for auto sending, just basic support. I am more than happy to pick rowing from the exercises when I start. Rowing isn't even listed.

@YetiFit for that purpose, sadly, you picked wrong brand.

Most of the Garmin watches do it. The best I've come up with on Fitbit is to wear a HR monitor and select Rowing after I've done my workout... all you get is the amount of time, activity and then sub in the correct amount of calories.
