I cannot change the display on my sense. This thing has been in my possession for a week. How do I make it change. When I click on display from the settings, the entire menu is dim and I can’t make any changes to anything.

You say you cannot change the display, but it sounds like you are getting to different screens, so I am guessing you mean you can't change the brightness of the display.  Check you are not in Sleep Mode.  You can see that as the Moon icon in Quick Settings scrolling left from main clock face.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
