Sense 3 updates

My Sense 3 began acting strangely.  At midnight, last night,  I noticed that the activity counter reset to zero.  After an hour or so, while sitting in my rocking chair listening to an audio book, I saw that 3100 steps were recorded...   Two nights before, 8700 steps were recorded as I was reading, after midnight when the sense 3 normally resets the activity counter to zero.  I was unable to correct either issue.  I decided to do a factory reset.  When I tried to connect to my Android Ultra S22, I was informed that there was an update for the sense 3.  I started the update process.  It took over an hour (riduculous, really).  Now the update appears to have completed, but the watch is still in some funny state with a bunch of languages scrolling under a rectangle that looks like a phone.  Although I keyed in the connection code to reconnect, on the phone, the issue remains.  The watch cannot connect to our home wifi even though I have typed in the correct network password.  Just got the unhelpful message...  "can't connect to wifi."    Apparently I am not using wifi for the update.  frustrated, I deinstalled the fitbit app on my phone.  When I reopened the app, i was  informed that there is an update available for the Sense,!  I am updating again after waiting more than an hour the first time!  The installation process seems much quicker the 2nd time.  It has taken about 5 minutes this time. I started this process about 1:00 PM today.  It is 2:20 now.  The watch appears to be functioning cvorrectly, although I will need to wait until after midnight to see if the counter resets normally.   The update process just flat sucks.  I was not notified that there was an update available for the sense that needed to be installed.  I just had to wait for the Sense to stop working correctly.  This was my clue...  The same thing happened previously.  Once the update installs correctly on the watch, it works fine...  until the next update???  In my opinion, these are issues that need to be addressed by fitbit.  I probably will never purchase another fitbit product. .

Hello @yoyogal

Gosh what a roller coaster you have been riding for sure! It sounds like (after tons of troubleshooting steps on your part) that your now newly updated and currently syncing. I applaud you for your tenacity and patience to keep trying. From one consumer to another I’m crossing my fingers that at the stroke of midnight your counter resets to zero as you hope for. 😉

Thank you for the reply.  My sense 3 appears to be working correctly after the device update. I think Fitbit needs to send a notice to users when an update to their watch or tracking devices is needed. My email address is registered and I get regular reports about my progress in the fitbit app.  It is frustrating that the sense device has to go into "la la land" to let me know an update is required...    It does not show that a Sense  update is available in the fitbit app until after I have done a factory reset on the Sense - then it shows up in the app...  And... I loose the accurate tracking for the day or days before I figure out the problem.  Not a good update system...  and probably does not encourage people to continue to use their trackers..  Maybe people just throw the tracker away and purchase something else?   Just my opinion...

Help again @yoyogal

Actually there is a place you can check if there is an update for your Fitbit Tracker on the Fitbit App. You can check everyday if you like, once a week if you so desire…basically whenever the mood hits ya. Here’s how: open your Fitbit App, tap your profile picture then scroll down to and tap help & support. Now scroll to the bottom of the page and it will say “Check for (your Fitbit tracker name) update” …just tap it and it will say it’s up to date or needed updated. 😃 Hopefully that helps
