I'd start by restarting your watch and your phone. Sometimes that helps resolve issues.
I do know that a lot of users are experiencing incorrect stair counts.

I did it even reset factory but It doesn't help anything.
I sit on my chair at my office but my sense show my steps above 2000.
Very disappointed.

I am having a similar problem but while biking. I suspect the problem/resolution is the same. Some days a bike ride on the same somewhat hilly route will give me 40-50 floors whereas another day it might give me something between 0 and 10. As the technology relies on a pin hole sensor that monitors changes in air pressure, any blockage of that opening with dirt or sweat will effect the ability to measure this. You can simply blow on it to make sure it's clean. @Moderator - Am I right?
It also gave me a few thousand steps today in addition to my 18 mile ride but I'm willing to take it. There were headwinds the whole way!
