Sense heart rate sensor not accurate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My post is one of many that was posted before about inaccurate heart sensor from fitbit sense. What's going on Fitbit?! are you not going to correct it or what?!? It's been almost 6 months since the release of the Sense and still thousands of complains from Sense owners. I bought the Sense yesterday and I was shocked to see that my heart beat was away of during my afternoon workout. I'm returning it today!!! Just for you guys to see, look at the picture and compare my workout today with the workouts from yesterday with Charge 4. The Sense does not even count zone minutes!

@Cedarpup strap and wrist HR use different technologies. You need to wet the strap because it uses electrodes. Moisture may actually affect the readings when you use optical sensor but it may be good, bad, totally random effect. I don't think there is anything users may do to improve Sense readings and if after such a long time the issue isn't even acknowledged by the Fitbit, I would say it's hardware thing.

it takes 3 days to sync to your body . also different algorithm in each device so measure differently also your profile, your weight, height and age effect this also so if reality doesn't match your imputed states you will have different outcome in data. I switched bands I noticed a difference in my heart readings so I simple must assume it because of the positioning on my arm is different. This is not a medical device so you cannot expect perfect accuracy in all it aspects. Just a close approximation of it.

Me too!  I use Verse 2 before, far more close to reality.  Sense measured my instensive barre practice 90 calories 60min!  less than it measured my walk !  I bought it a month ago.

Also in Hong Kong they do not allow users to download Spo2 from Google. It is completely a commercial cheat.

It also less responsive to notifications from the phone, and wrist display when facing up.

Do I need to return to Fitbit s agent in Hong Kong?  I dont think maintenance will react to my complaint. They are just an outsource.

This thread was just the info I needed.  I used to love Fitbit and when I got the charge2, the promised updates never came so I moved to Apple.  I was just considering the sense as my Apple is dying.  I see that Fitbit is STILL not listening to their customers so I too am just going to get the Apple Watch 6.  Congratulations on your customer losses Fitbit.

Not a medical device - I understand that. However, my Sense is 30-50 bpm off from my other non-medical device (Garmin with a chest strap). At what point does the Sense become useless or, better yet, worthy of a fix from Fitbit?

Mine is consistently 20 off. So I just add 20. Still not the best but what do you do.

That is when I am doing cardio exercises

under heart rate tab in the dashboard it says more info on heart rate it then will take you to fitbit help docs and show you all the ways to correctly calibrate the heart monitor for your device. All the people upset about their watch's really just refuse to delve into the watch's themselves because almost everything can be calibrated to be more accurate. It also takes the wathc three days to sync to body and those comparing them to older trackers it a different technology used to measure heart rates.

You are right.  I kept thinking they are going to improve but once again they failed their fans. Weird to see a tech co do business like this.

They started having the same issue with versa 2, since they updated the software.

i upgraded to Sense thinking that the issue will be solved with this model, but surprise ... heart rate is appalling, plus it counts that I went up 12 floors on a day that I did not leave my flat and did not fo any workouts.

I complained over the phone and e-mails. The customer service team is very unhelpful, they blame the issue on the user, and my complaint is logged with the since January and they can provide me with a time frame for an answer

It's an absolute joke! I just got off my bike and I'm sitting here with at least 130 bpm, what does the sense say? 100bpm...

This is the most basic function of the fitbit!

It was stuck on 120bmp yesterday and I was sitting here with a resting heart rate for 20 mins thinking there was something wrong with me.

What an incredible waste of money for their most expensive fitbit...

  • It messes up tracking my sleep 50% of the time and is wrong when it actually tracks
  • Can't connect to gps to get my location
  • Laggy slow interface
  • Clock faces from previous watches get clipped at the sides due to the screen size

Fitbit bit sort your **ahem** out you bunch of clowns!

It shot up to 120bpm while I am sitting in office.  Sense has no sense. 98% it pause or simply ended during exercise mode.  Never ever it came out with a beliveable professional measurement.

Still wanna this Sense?

I tried and returned 2 brand new Senses because the HR is garbage.

i bought a versa2 which is fine. The HR is apparently “personalised to your cardiovascular fitness and age”, it does work very reliably, it’s excellent.

i wouldn’t want an Apple Watch because of short battery life.

The Sense should be a market leader for Fitbit, but they’ve messed up the HR monitor and they allow it to carry on being messed up, they simply don’t care about their customers in my opinion.

I had exactly same issue, with 2 senses, both returned and bought a Versa2 instead which works great.

Fitbit don’t care and they won’t do anything about it.

They messed it up, and they are blaming their customers for not using the device properly

also the floors climbed is off. I did not leave my flat today and it says I’ve climbed 74 floors. When I asked fitbit they said even the wind can affect the floor count. Well it’s not windy in my flat

I had the same thing as you. I bought a Sense thinking my Versa 2 was messing up but it was due to the update a few months ago. It's been almost 2 years since the Sense came out and they've not fixed it. I doubt they will. I wish they prove me wrong.

Hey there! I just purchased the Sense and used it for the first time yesterday and I’m having the exact same issues. Literally 20 hbpm less than what my Charge 3 would show. What do you think of the Apple 6??? How’s the HR monitor on it? I’ve already returned the Sense and thinking of buying the Apple Watch.

I haven't got Apple watch but friend of mine does not complain. The vibration is stronger and text msg gives alert light.
