Yeah I've found the floor count to be erratic. It will do actual floors correct but then it will count floors while I'm home and I live in a single floor house.

If you are interested in how your watch pressure sensor is behaving or whether you can get a more accurate floor count, try the SimpleFloors app.
It shows how your watch is affected by environmental issues such as, going room to room, upstairs/downstairs, inside to outside, changes in temperature, etc.
If it is not registering pressure changes the sensor hole could be blocked or there is a watch fault.
This app is meant for checking purposes as it uses the battery a lot, but at least it will give you an idea if your watch is fine and to confirm waiting for a firmware update to fix it.

Ah I wonder if it's the pressure sensing that's getting thrown off! My whole unit, I'm a nurse, is negative pressure for COVID patients. It's counted 100 floors one time and I got 72 yesterday.

Those high days were definitely days I was going in and out of rooms more. I'll give the app a try.

Does anyone know which hole is used by the altimeter sensor?
Also, any thoughts on how it might be cleaned, perhaps vacuuming or compressed air?

@ortsc147 - think of your pressure sensor as sensitive as your ear drum.
You wouldn't use compressed air or a vacuum or stick something hard in it.
If you are getting too many floors there is nothing you can do to the hole to fix it. It's not a watch fault or a pressure sensor fault.

This is not just a Fitbit sense issue. I've also had it happen on my versa 3 (currently here looking for answers) I've been getting stair/floor climbing badges for 100+ floors when I've maybe only walked up 3 flights in a day.
The climbing algorithm is definitely broken and fitbit should try to fix it!

@Drasylera- yes it is most likely a firmware issue that needs fixing, did you try the app to confirm it though? At least you can then be sure it is not your watch if the pressure sensor gives reasonable results.

Seriously! You would have us believe based upon what you’re saying here that this is normal functioning of the altimeter. You’re treating us as though we are ignorant! I’ve worn a Fitbit device since 2013 and each one has had an altimeter that worked as expected. Never has any previous device counted more floors than I climbed in a day. This began recently with my purchase of the Sense. End it didn’t even happen right away it worked perfectly for an extended period of time and then suddenly on a daily basis it’s counting ridiculous numbers of floors climbed. I have made sure it’s updated I have restarted it and I wear it exactly as the directions request and nothing makes any improvement. I need to get some resolution around this or I’m jumping ship.

Say it louder since Fitbit obviously can’t hear this! You are 100% correct because it’s the same for me! This is the only device I’ve had issues with. I started with Fitbit around the same time as you. It should be something they should want to fix and make right. I’m on my 3rd Sense. This one worked ok for 2 weeks. The stair count is incorrect and this one keeps resetting itself.

At this stage, Fitbit would be better off deactivating the floor count feature and confirming that it doesn’t impact other metrics. Either way, the lack of engagement on this issue has been unacceptable

Sense going haywire (140 floors when I didn't leave the house) and chat support only has one solution. "Restart device". Also "not covered under warranty" and "it's a known issue that we don't have a solution for". Like what. This is how you stand behind your products?

Hi @MMenzies - this is a common issue and not related to your watch mostly likely more to do with the recent firmware changes.
If you are interested in how your watch pressure sensor is behaving or whether you can get a more accurate floor count, try the SimpleFloors app.
It shows how your watch is affected by environmental issues such as, going room to room, upstairs/downstairs, inside to outside, changes in temperature, or movement style, etc.
It will help with knowing if If it is a watch fault or a fault in the firmware or it is simply necessary to restart the watch..
This app is meant for checking purposes as it uses the battery a lot, but at least it will give you an idea if your watch is fine or if it is some other issue.

Thanks Guy can I uninstall the firmware and restore to an old version that doesn't break my Sense?

Anyone else having issues with their floor count being outrageously high? May actually do 5-10 but I’m getting counts daily of 35+.
