Hi I had a Fitbit blaze it checked my heart rate and sleep ok I had a Fitbit iconic it tracked my heart rate and sleep ok BUT I had a notification from Fitbit to say iconic batteries are faulty stop using the watch apply for a refund I did that I now have a Fitbit sense BUT it won’t track my heart rate or my sleep I’ve discovered why it won’t read through my tattoos if I move it to a bare patch of skin it starts to work trouble is I have a tattoo on both wrists so all I have now is a very expensive watch that only tells the time and counts steps? I could probably buy a £5 no name brand that can do the same thing and I’m not having a tattoo removed for the sake of a watch

I’ve googled my problem I found something that said if you have tattoos it might not work so move it I have large tattoos on both wrists and arms I can not move it so my watch is USLESS but my old blaze and iconic worked perfectly with my tattoos yet the sense is supposed to be extra special well I’m not thinking so at the moment

Why don’t Fitbit tell people the Fitbit sense won’t read heart rates through your tattoo
my old blaze did it ok my Fitbit ionic did it ok but my sense won’t work with my tattoos so no heart rate and sleep and o2 readings but if I hold it on bare skin it reads heart rate

@POGZY it's probably because so few people have tattoos and use fitness smartwatches. Just as left handed people have an issue with many things.

I’m left handed with no tattoos or issues.

"Just as left handed people have an issue with many things."
Perhaps a slight clarification is required (and I'm right handed, although slightly ambidextrous). People don't have issues. Manufacturers and designers have issues.
Just sayin'.

@PaulMe having some lefthanded people in my family, I've had them tell me that certain things cause them issues. Scissors is one. Lefties seem to have challenges I never thought about as I'm righthanded.
The Inspire 2 seems to do better with tattoos, according to some posts on the forums.
