Sense won’t find my iPhone

My sense won’t find my iPhone unless the app has just been opened and synced. Once the app closes or the phone is off for a while it never finds it. I’ve troubleshooted everything possible with support and they said to send it in for replacement. But before I get a refurbished sense with other problems that still won’t find my phone I wanted to try one last time to get this resolved. Seems that if it finds the phone when the app is freshly running then the problem is how it’s communicating with the phone. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks
