Hi, @sandyreadytogo welcome to the community, you do not mention the make and model of your phone. May I suggest you check out Fitbit Supported Devices and the links it contains? In addition, go to the Fitbit app in your phone app tray and ensure any battery-saving function is disabled for the Fitbit app (some phones close the app down as "non-essential" but it needs to be running continuously in the background) Make sure you have allowed all permissions in the app and your Bluetooth is on all the time.
