Slowly Charging ... still a huge issue!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Sense is less than a year old, still under warranty, and I have been getting the dreaded "Slowly Charging" notice for the past couple of months.  I clean the terminals on the back of the watch and on the charger, restart the watch, keep the app is up to date and have tried charging on many different outlets, using different usb blocks, the ports on my mac, various power ports ... I've been trying for two months!  There are so many articles about people having this same issue.

Today I reached out to Fitbit Support because it literally takes a full day to charge now, and this is the answer:

"We’re currently working to resolve it and hope to have a fix soon. Be sure to keep your Fitbit device and app uptodate to ensure you receive the quickest resolution.

I'd like to inform you that we're currently investigating about this issue and we don't have the exact information about why this had happened.

Our separate team still investigating about this matter. We don't have the exact information about why this had happened.

If the issue still persists, feel free to contact us again and we'll be glad to continue assisting you. Here's your case number: xxxxxxxx

What???

I honestly am flabbergasted and have no idea what to do.  Again, the watch is 9 months old!

Fitbit, if you read these community messages, what do you suggest?  Basically my watch is out of commission for a full day every 4-5 days.

I’m not affiliated with Fitbit, but I’m thinking make sure all pins are protruding the same amount from the charging cable block. If not, the full charge voltage may be low and takes longer to charge.
BTW if you’re getting 4-5 days in between charges there is nothing wrong with the battery.

I get a slow charge message but watch charges in an hour.

As a last resort, get a new watch under warranty.
The warranty is 1 yr or 2 yr depending on your location.

I contacted Customer Service to ask if my Sense was still under warranty (bought it directly from FitBit).  My Sense only showed "slowly charging" 2 or 3 times over the last few months, so I just moved it to a different outlet and didn't think much of it.   However, now, it won't charge at all!!  Occasionally, I'll get a battery symbol showing 0%.  The rest of the time it's just a black screen.  I am extremely careful with my Sense, wipe it with a lint free soft cloth daily; my pins are clean and in perfect working order; aside from light use on the face, there isn't even a scratch on this!  When it stopped charging, I cleaned everything again.  I did all the troubleshooting I could find online.  I checked the pins.  I let it charge for 47 hours without touching it.  Finally, out of desperation, I took it over my sister's (she recently bought a Sense) and I asked her to check my charging cable.  It charged her watch successfully.  I put my watch on her (almost brand new) charging cable - nothing.  Clearly, it's the watch.  It just died!  I explained ALL of this to Customer Service and just wanted to know about the warranty.  Customer Service told me to clean it again with rubbing alcohol and CALL BACK in 30 minutes.  Seriously?  I let it charge for 2 days, and now I have to call back in 30 minutes!?!  This is the second time a fitbit has just inexplicably died on me ... I am ready to try another brand because I think it HAS to be the internal battery (which you cannot replace).  Nothing was wrong with this watch.  18 months isn't a long enough lifespan for a $300 watch.  On the bright side, they did give me a Case # so when I call back I (hopefully) won't be asked to clean it again.

I always get the slow charge message and have since my fit bit was new.  However it does charge fully within an hour and the charge lasts for 4-5 days so I just ignore it.

Hi I had a similar issue on my sense. Tracked it down to the pins on the charging dock. All pins should be same length if one gets shorter or worn down the charging gets ineffective.  It seems the build quality of these is very poor. You can buy cheap replacement on Amazon again check the new one has 4 good pins. Any way thos seemed to work for me. Fitbit have done nothing to resolve this issue. Shoddy compo ends and poor customer service.
