Steps Gone Bonkers

My fitbit sense is about 2 years old. Up until the past few weeks it's been great. Lately the steps counter has been acting possessed. It will jump from 5000 steps to 10,000 and back to 6000 and back to 12,000 at random. These numbers are approximations, but I think you'll get the idea. Anyone else seen this kind of behavior? Any idea if it's the app or the watch itself? I would gladly buy another Sense, but I'm worried it might be an app issue.

Seems like an app issue. My Sense was fine up until the "battery problem" update, which has successfully required more frequent charging and has introduced random changes to step counts. On the positive side, I reach the 10,000 step goal several times a day, once when it claimed I had made 19,000 steps before lunch. With no change in my actual activity level. However, the count seems to be OK by the end of the day. No way to tell for sure, apart from getting another watch which actually works properly for the other wrist...
