Text syncing with Google 6 Pro

I just upgraded to a Google Pixel 6 Pro and my email notifications won't sync.  I've searched multiple online forums and tried everything.  Nothing seems to work.  Is it the newness of the Pixel 6?  I loved this feature before I switched and its annoying that I don't have it anymore.

I get email and calendar notifications and calls.  I got texts when I had my Samsung Note 20, but I switched to a Pixel 6 Pro and the text notifications stopped
