My surge no longer shows any activity or exercise monitors except for Run and Exercise. It used to have Walk, Outdoor Bike, and a couple of others. I have tried doing a full reset and checked that I have the latest firmware update. Where did my activity monitors go and how do I get them back? I know I can enter my activities manually, but I did not have to do that before ... kinda what the Fitbit is supposed to do for us, isn't it?

On your Dashboard, click on the gear and then select your device.
Scroll down to Exercise Shortcuts and add what you want. It will need to sync before it takes place.

Thanks, tried that but even though the activities I want are shown as enabled on the Dashboard they still do not appear on my Surge.
Edit: Tried setting an alarm, which worked, and now the activites I wanted are back. Evidently the sync was not working properly the first two times I tried it.
As for adding Bike as an activity monitor, you should be able to add it using the method described here. It should appear in the exercise options (tap the screen and scroll to select the monitor you want) and wait for the GPS to locate your position for the most accurate logging. You can use the "quick start" option if you want a log that will be slightly less accurate. My only gripe about the Bike activity monitor is that unless your heart rate is above the level the Surge deems you are active enough it will not add the time on the bike under that heart rate level to your active minutes.

If you can get to the edit activities menu and Bike appears in the list you should be able to check the box to enable it. Remember, you can only select 7 activities. There is also a built in Outdoor Bike monitor that should log your bike activity as long as you ride for longer than the minimum activity recognize time which is 15 minutes by default. You can also adjust that time in the same menu page that you use to edit the activity monitors. I use the PC app, I am not sure if the "smart" phone apps work exactly the same way, but I assume they have pretty much the same capabilities. I wasn't too impressed with the Outdoor Bike logger, but it's better than nothing at all! Good luck, hope you get it sorted out. Be sure to save your changes and then sync your Fitbit.

Hope you’re enjoying the forums @Pamnwilson!
Have you tried to use your computer or laptop to add the activities that you want to have in your Surge. Go to the setting on your computer and click on "Edit Exercise Shortcuts", then add the exercises that you want to use and finally click of "Save":
1)
2)
For iOS phones: Account > Tap on Surge > Exercise Shortcuts > Edit (upper right corner)
For Android phones: Tap on Surge > Exercise Shortcuts > Add more
As @eerdelyi mentioned you have the option to add until 7 shortcuts.
Hope this helps!
