My battery is low. I plug it in to my USB port (tried several) and Windows 10 gives me a message that it does not recognize a USB device. How do I charge my SURGE?

Best AnswerCharging does not require the computer recognizing the device. If it is a new device make sure to leave it plugged in for a about an hour or two, the surge out of the box comes with no battery life only enough to display the setup screen.

Thanks so much for your help @SunsetRunner, @Jmanyoma and @Redmoonstar! As you mentioned the long cord is for charging purposes only. @Jimbo40 If you're still having syncing issues, restart your Surge, and try to place your Dongle on different USB ports of your computer.
