My fitbit surge is not counting floors , ive been up & down loads of times but it wont move off 2!! Ive had one problem after another i wish i'd bought a Garmin !! I have restarted it that didnt work , fed up with it, it cost a fortune and doesnt work properly !!

In case wearing something heavy or when standing still on the stairs (taking a break), a floor may not be counted.

Great to see you here @Debzw68, @pble22 and @SunsetRunner thanks for stopping by and for the information. As recommended, please check our How does my tracker count floors? article. Also, keep in mind that, 10 feet is an average between residential and commercial floor heights. If the floors you're climbing are shorter than 10 feet, you may find that the Fitbit tracker's floor count doesn't exactly match how many floors you've gone up. Another cause of inaccurate floors is moisture. For example, the pathway to the altimeter on the back of your tracker can become clogged temporarily with sweat. I suggest that your tracker be worn loosely during exercise to avoid this.

Here is a connundrum. I walk the same route each morning 5am - no sweating. Just a quick brief walk to get the blood flowing before sitting down to work. The walk includes 6 trips up and down a flight of stairs (the same ones each time). My surge shows anywhere from 0-6 flights of stairs1 (varies by day) - Monday may show 6, Tuesday 1, Wed 4 etc. Circumstances for the walk do not really vary. I do not carry anything or wear any weights. It is all indoors. Why would would it show different flights?

@4evertutor A warm welcome to our Fitbit Community! Seems odd that your Surge doesn't track the same amount of flight of stairs each day. I would like you to try restarting your tracker as advised in Meylin's post. Once this has been done, test how your tracker tracks your floors during the next 72 hours when you walk the same route in the morning.
