I've been given a Fitbit but it was ex display and is on the demo mode, I've never owned one before, how do I get it to user mode?

Hi @Shaunwhiting welcome to the Fitbit Community. Make sure your Surge don't have a plastic cover on the display. Then follow the steps on this article to set up your tracker.
