A warm welcome to our Fitbit Community family @MarcH73! ![]()
Thanks for placing your question here. Are you using the option "Bike" from the Surge options or the Automatic recognition? When you're biking on bumpy trails it's possible that your tracker will register steps while biking but these should be negligible in your overall stats. So, once in a while you may note a couple of steps during this type activities, it's not totally odd since your tracker is very sensitive to movement.
Keep me posted, I'll be around.

I have the same problem with my charge 2 tracking approx 2500 steps whilst cycling to work. I use back roads which are rough in parts but not for the entire 6 miles. Any way of turning off the step tracking whilst cycling?
As you will see from the reply I got to the original question, I didn't really get anywhere with the question! My surge records steps whilst in bike mode, but does not count distance walked! So it appears to be a flaw in the software! It counts steps, but not distance!
Hi MarcH73,
I was having the same issue with my Surge until I added the Bike mode from my Fitbit Connect Dashboard on my computer.
Once I added the Bike option and then enabled it each time I rode, the number of steps recorded dropped significantly.
Cheers!

I'm using the bike mode so really puzzled as to why it's counting steps also. Anybody help?
That's what I thought
