FitBit Charge Syncing with MyFitnessPal

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For the past 3-4 days, my FitBit calories are not carrying over to MyFitnessPal.  I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting FitBit from MFP, which has worked when I had this problem in the past, but this time, that doesn't work either.  Other MFP users are having similar problems, as there is a current thread on this problem in the MFP community forums.  Is there a fix for this?

@rosebuxton Are you referring to the calorie adjustment? If so, maybe this thread will help.

No, the exercise calories from Fitbit aren't showing up at all in MFP.  For example, yesterday I did yoga and an hour + walk.  By the end of the day, Fitbit showed I had used 1600 calories, but MFP added no exercise calories to my exercise diary.  I had to manually add them.  On Friday, I did a 1 hour kickboxing class and a 1 hour walk, again, 0 exercise calories added, even though by the end of the day, Fitbit had me at around 1900 calories.

@rosebuxton So calories from Fitbit don't actually sync to MyFitnessPal, only steps and weight from Fitbit will sync over. MFP calculates a "calorie adjustment" based on activity (steps from Fitbit or another source) and then adds that to "Exercise" calories. I tested with my account and my "Exercise" calories are showing up for me. Are your steps not syncing to MFP?

Hi Andrew,
I took a walk and checked my MFP account, and the exercise calories did get entered today, without my changing the settings or anything.  I think the problem is on the MFP side rather than fitbit.com -- it's not calculating the exercise calories.  A few users had threads in the forums on it.
Thanks.

@rosebuxton Oh, good! It might have been a slight syncing issue, but I'm glad to hear it got entered today. If it happens again, I would check to see if steps are properly syncing over to MFP.

Where in MFP do I see the step sync?  I've never seen steps in MFP only calories.  I also have the Fitbit Charge, so it's using heart rate as well as steps to calculate calories.  For example, a kickboxing class might give me more calories than a one-hour walk, even though I might have fewer steps in kickboxing.

@rosebuxton On the "Home" tab in the MFP app, you should see this:

I'd recommend checking out MFP's article about calorie adjustment for more information on how that works.

I have never seen this display on my homepage.  In fact, I can't change the Steps  setting under Apps to display steps.  It says Don't Display Steps and Selected is grayed out so I can't change it.  Today, it's not syncing cakirues again, despite a mile and a half walk and over 40 minutes of stair-climbing and walking around the campus I work.
