Fitbit/My Fitness Pal Question

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

When I enter exercise into my fitness pal, I've noticed there is extra exercise calories burned. I then realized it is counting both steps taken during that exercise AND the exercise I've entered....Should I just not enter the exercise to keep it more accurate? For example, I did Zumba tonight and burned 547 calories according to my fitness pal....But my fit bit also imports data saying I've exercised and adds it together not giving me an accurate calorie burn (showing I've burned more than I really have)...Thoughts on this anyone?

@kristeve it depends on which model Fitbit tracker you have.  You don't mention but the current trackers (Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Charge HR, and Fitbit Surge) use the following format for exercise start/end times: hh:mm:ss.  I know the Flex and Force (not sure about the One, or Zip as its been forever since I used them) use: hh:mm.  MFP only allows you to enter start/end times of exercise in hh:mm format so with the new trackers listed about the logs will never match up exactly and as such you will always have 2 exercises and double your calorie count.  I would just leave exercise tracking to Fitbit and log food in MFP (that's the setup I use).

Or, if you really want to use MFP to track activities as well, you can delete the extra activity from the Fitbit log.
