Fitbit not syncing with MapMyRun

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

OK. I have a MapMyRun account and wanted to share workout data across platforms between my Fitbit account and MapMyRun account. Went to the third party apps page and followed the steps to link my Fitbit to MapMyRun. Then I went to MapMyRun and confirmed there that they are linked. When I synced the data in MapMyRun, imagine my unpleasant surprise when nothing from my Fitbit account showed up. Zip, nada, nil. I've completed two workouts since I linked the two, but no dice. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

That does not work. I couldn't find anything in Map My Run support so I submitted a question.

Thanks - you're absolutely right!  Under 24/7, I see my steps, distance and calories burned.  But the data is nowhere else, not even in the graph above those numbers.  Looks like they haven't spent the time to map fitbit data to their site and I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned the problem.  For me, it makes the whole thing useless, because I already have that data in the Fitbit app.

Thanks for the help!

Here's the answer from MapMyRun:

Thank you for contacting us! The information we receive from Fitbit is limited to aggregate step data, which is now listed in the 24/7 view on both the app and the dashboard of the website. We do not receive time-series data for Fitbit steps, so we cannot complete the daily graph, but the total steps should appear in the "Steps" tile below the graph. I apologize for any confusion this has caused.

So Fitbit data does NOT sync to MapMyRun in a way that enables you to include it with your other activities or have it count in any challenges.

So just to be clear - your product does not sync with a third party app to which your respense in the forum troubleshooting the reason it doesn't is to post a link to the "other" apps that link with Fitbit are listed where the app we are saying cannot be synced is posted? That's a little redundand don't you think? I have been reading numerous posts about this and it's all and the same vague answers. I am sure you realize exactly what the issue is and I don't understand why don't you either come out and say it is a problem and a) you'll fix or b) you won't fix it. Also, please remove the MMR, MMF icons from the list of apps you are "compatible" with as your product is obviously not compatible. I will not switch from an app that I have used for years (and logged in close to 2000 miles in) and the only reason I purchased the Surge is due to your misleading advertisment. I am curious to see if you would answer honestly - will you or will you not fix the issue so we can as customers can make a decision for ourselves whether we will keep or not keep your product? I also have contacted the MMR Help and Support. Here is their answer: "

Unfortunately Fitbit does not allow access to their heart rate monitor features of the Charge or Surge HR, nor do they import any activities, workouts, or sleep to your MapMyFitness account at the moment. Fitbit will send weight to MMF if you use a Fitbit Scale.

I apologize for any confusion this has caused, but we hope to work with Fitbit to add more information to our site soon.

If you have any other questions or issues please feel free to let us know."

Awaiting your answer! Thank you!

@azsympitch Welcome to the Community! Thank you for posting all your details as well for contacting Fitbit and MMR. Fitbit gives you the opportunity to sync with a third-party app. However, not all the apps sync the same information.

We have the Ideas Board if you would like to post any suggestions to Fitbit. Those ideas are viewed directly by our engineers and developers.

Thank you for your understanding.

I've read this feed and still not clear on my question - I tracked a walk with MapMyRun since I had to leave my Charge HR on the charger. I would like to add the steps that MMR logged for me (it was an hr dog walk, approx 4.5k steps). I've been able to get that activity minutes show up on my Fitbit app as I logged them in MyFitnessPal, but the steps haven't transferred. I'd like to get my steps accounted for as it'll be the difference in making my step goal for the day! My apps are synced.
Any help would be appreciated!

@Jiggz Welcome to the Community! It's weird that you got those active minutes in your Dashboard because Fitbit will sync distance and calories to MapMyRun. However, MMR doesn't sync to Fitbit.

If you forget your tracker at home and still want to get credit for those steps, you should log the activity in your online Dashboard so it can be properly reflected.

Note: You should log step based activities just if you forgot your tracker. Otherwise the information will be override.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

I have had the same problem syncing my fitbit workouts with mapmyrun. The only means to do so that I have found is to export each workout on my fitbit account as a .tcx file. Then import that same file into my mapmyrun account. This is quite cumbersome, but it does seem to work in transferring all the data fairly accurately.

I tried that. It is perhaps more exhausting than the exercise itself.LOL

I just bought a fitbit blaze, I am having a hard time syncing it with mapmyfitness. Does anyone on this thread still have this problem?

Allow me to help you @eriizu! What kind of error or issue are you getting that you're not able to link both apps? Please confirm that you're trying to link the apps by going to  MapMyRun link procedure.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello,

I have been using Map My Fitness for a very long time, it is linked to my Fitbit. Just recently my fitbit one has stopped bringing in my workouts from Map MyFitness and is showing no workouts in my dashboard. Do you haev any idea why this is happening and how to fix it so my workouts from Map My Fitness show up in my Fitbit dashboard.

Thank you

Jackie

Welcome to the Community @JacG! Thanks for those details. I would like you to unlink and relink both accounts to see if after this, your data starts syncing properly.

- Go to your Dashboard > settings

- Applications > under MapMyFitness click on "Revoke Access"

If after doing this procedure, your stats are still not syncing. Please contact MapMyFitness directly.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
