Fix for Facebook connection issues!

Hi!

I recently contacted Fitbit support for help because my Fitbit would not link with my Facebook account. I revoked access and reconnected multiple times as that seemed to be the only solution I could find on this forum, but it didn't work for me. I contacted Fitbit support and they finally came up with this solution:

We've reviewed your case with our site specialists and would like to as if you coudl revoke access from within Facebook as well as Fitbit.com. To do this, go to the apps tab of your Facebook profile and click "Remove" (the "X" icon) next to the Fitbit app icon. Here is a link to an image for reference: https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.hipchat.com/4977/158413/zkqfcnbdl2Sqp5z/upload.png

Please be sure that access is also revoked on both the sharing and the applications tab on your Fitbit.com profile's "Settings" page as well.

Once this step is complete, try linking your account once more.

One thing you should note: I did not see the Fitbit app on my Facebook app page. I had to put the word Fitbit in the search bar. Only then did it come up for me to be able to remove it. I thought it had never connected, but apparently it had, just not correctly. I hope this information will be helpful to others.

Thanks,

Sherry

I tried unlinking from Facebook and Fitbit because my daily stats quit showing on Facebook.  Now, I see the Fitbit app on Facebook and see that I am linked to Facebook in my Fitbit settings, in the sharing tab, there are no options for sharing stats to Facebook showing up on my sharing page in Fitbit settings.  I'll try unlinking again and see if that helps.

Tried to follow this. When I went into my settings there is now no link or option for Facebook sharing!! This is a farce!

I cannot find my Fitbit app on my Facebook account and it won't bring it up in search.

Any clues there?

I have revoked access and I have logged out of the app and nothing.

Still no luck in sharing with Facebook.  I have tried unlinking on Facebook and revoking access on Fitbit and relinking.  Facebook does not show on the sharing page in Fitbit even though it is relinked.  Any more ideas?

Hey Everybody! I'm sorry to see that Facebook isn't syncing with Fitbit. Our engineers are working to get the Facebook feature back in the Sharing part of the Dashboard, where you're unable to see it. In the meantime, you can do this procedure to link them again; if you already revoke access in order to get the information linked.

Hope this helps Robot Happy

Is Fitbit going to protest Facebook now, like they did Apple Health? I'm just wondering, because it is AWFULLY weird that ONLY the Facebook sharing part of the page *POOF* gone. Something does not seem right at all.

Silvia, what's the use linking Fitbit and Facebook when there is no option to share with Facebook listed in the "Sharing" tab?  My Fitbit and Facebook are linked, but I can't share data.

@BryBub @chainsaw I totally understand the sentiment. However, as I mentioned before our engineers are working to get this feature back to the Dashboard. In order to link the account, do this procedure.

I appreciate your understanding. Hope this helps Smiley Happy

Yes, but this is not a fix for the problem. This still does not share anything with Facebook. This allows people to become friends. Still no sharing of any stats. Is there some privacy law that Fitbit got caught up in? Still makes no sense why Wordpress and Twitter are still on the Fitbit sharing page under stttings, and Facebook dissapeared. If someone from Fitbit would shoot straight from the hip with some useful information for all of us everyday Fitbit investors, we would most happily stop asking why all the time.  🙂  But we get stonewalled or ignored. 😞 Or the dreaded "generic busniness lingo reply"..... I still like my Fitbit, but these forums feel mostly like the blind leading the blind, and the moderators on here seem to be happy to chime in, in the same way as a lot of people who post on here. Great intentions, often little if any help, after way too much time looking for some assistance. I'm sorry. Just how I feel on these forums here. No better on Apple forums IMO. Says "we cant possibly give good service to everyone" so here, y'all figure it out yourselves. LOL Ya know? 🙂 It started for me with the 12 page, 3 paragraph "users guide". Oh, only three I could use at that. I am not multilingual.

I revoked access here on Fitbit and NOW there is no 'Facebook' sharing even available?  The sharing area (here at Fitbit) has NO Facebook button to click or link it?  only Twitter!?  Also when I went back to Facebook my 'Fitbit' app disappeard after I revoked access HERE at Fitbit!  HOW do I share with Facebook if the 'sharing' area has NO Facebook button anymore??  My stats STOPPED posting WEEKS ago... seems like this has been a problem for a WHILE!!?

Thanks for stopping by @SunsetRunner! The engineering team is aware the link to share stats on Facebook is currently not available. They are working to have this issue fixed as soon as possible. There is actually no timeframe to provide you with but hopefully we get good news for you soon. Once any update is available we will let you know. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

Regarding the incident with the app I would recommend downloading the most recent app version that has been recently a couple of days ago. If you keep experiencing the same issue please let me know so I can fill out a bug report to pass to the engineering team. Catch you later! Cat Happy

Hi Edson,

Thank you!  I hope they fix that soon!  I MISS seeing my stats :smileywink:

Regarding the app... I meant AT Facebook 'on the computer'.  I DO use my cell phone with Fitbit ALL the time... but I DO NOT use 'Facebook' on my cell... I know weird, lol.. but I meant that looking THROUGH my app list AT Facebook ON my computer (Windows desktop  64bit 8.1) the Fitbit app just doesn't come UP anymore... I'm wondering if it's because it's MISSING from the 'sharing' area HERE and it will probably ALL be fixed once the issue is resloved!  (I hope!?)  At Facebook thankfully I still have the 'Fitbit' page 'liked' :smileyvery-happy:  Thanks again!  Look FWD to a fix like everyone!

Sincerely,

Shivonne Grant

Any word yet? Been about THREE MORE MONTHS. I love how these topics just stop, fade away, leaving problems unsolved.

I think that Fitbit is trying to keep us in it's own ecosystem so they can generate more income off ads etc.
