I see lot of you are using Drivebit- I just downloaded it- assume I just turn it on and off through the app on my phone and it automatically does the rest? Do I need to do anything concurrently on my HR? I am only on my 2nd day and was dissapointed that my driving distance was skewing my step count.

Thanks @Okiesmokie, I'd love to use this!
I clicked on the links but am unsure how to get this onto my phone - this may be me being dim of course!
Would you mind guiding me a little please? I'm pretty IT savvy, just not sure with is particular thingy!
I'd be thrilled not to have to enter every stop/start manually when vsiting my patients at home

It's all good, I should have been more clear.
If you're still interested, I have a very early version ready for testing. It works similar to how DriveBit did, you just click the "Start" button when you start driving, and click the "Stop" button when finished. It will try to sync with Fitbit when you press the stop button, but if you do not have an internet connection at that time it will place it into a queue. To check the queue you just tap the menu icon at the top left, and go to "View Queue" and tap the "Sync with Fitbit" button at the bottom. To remove items from the queue you just simply tap on them and a dialog will appear asking if you want to remove that item.
If you do test it out, please let me know of any bugs you encounter, or problem you have with the app. I'm also looking for ideas of how to make it better, so I'm all ears if you have those as well.
You can contact me either by email, steven@okiesmokie.com or you can report issues directly on the github page:
https://github.com/Okiesmokie/fitbitlog/issues
The link to the app is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.okiesmokie.travelbit
You have to have the ability to run unsigned apks enabled to install it at the moment. I will put it on the Play Store once I do some more testing and have some people using it and reporting any bugs to me.

Thanks @Okiesmokie
I've installed it but, when I select to allow it access to my data it goes to the Fitbit log screen with the start button then says "unfortunately fitbitlog has stopped".

@Santhosh I can do one better. I've updated the app to allow you to specify which type of activity you want to log it as. There are multiple ways to do this. You can either go into the Settings menu and set the default activity type there, or you can change the activity type manually from the new confirmation dialog that is displayed before syncing with Fitbit.

Are you guys able to send me a logcat taken after the error occurs? Also please try the newer version I linked above and see if that works for you.
Instructions on how to get a logcat: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/33216/how-can-i-get-a-logcat
If you're able to get that for me, just send it to me via email: steven@okiesmokie.com and I'll take a look.
Edit: I created a thread for my app so that we can continue conversation there instead of hijacking this thread, link: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Third-Party-Integrations/DriveBit-Alternative-Android/m-p/1516953#M1...

I tried that, but even if I enter the times before the trip, it still allows my Bit to gain steps... and worse... flights of stairs. I can edit the time, but I cannot delete those untaken steps or stairs.

This is exactly my problem too. I spent 4 hours trying to comunicate this problem via the fitbit website chat and got no where with them.

@mnaside: Which problem is that?

When I log driving time, it doesn't always take away the steps or floors it gave me while driving.

@mnaside: If it's not taking away the steps, make sure you are actually picking "Driving" from the list instead of just manually typing it in. You actually need to use Fitbit's Driving activity to remove the steps, if you just type "Driving" in it will create a custom activity.

Yes, I found that out earlier today after a great deal of frustration. Actually in messing with it more just now, I think I have it figured out. It seems to be all in the times. I do hope, your app is made available to the masses. I thank you for building it and look forward to using it.

@mnaside: I am very near release of my app on the playstore. You can currently download a beta version of it in the thread I started about it on here:
But I should have it released on the play store in the next few days, and the link will be available in that thread.
