Sense activity export to Strava

Not sure if this is the Sense's problem, or the Fitbit apps problem, but it's very close to a total "Fail" for me.  I've done two inside walks around a couple of malls we have here, mostly as tests.  I use the "walking" (obviously) activity, and disable the GPS, as it's usually pretty hard to get an accurate GPS track indoors.  The App gives it's information, which, is rather limited.  However when I try to export that information to Strava, Training Peaks, or Runalyze, (all of which Fitbit states should work), it takes hours, and when it finally does sync, there's no heart rate information.

Is this to be expected?  Am I asking too much, or is there something I'm missing in the settings?

Anyone? TIA

Fitbit can export (or sync to other thirdparty services) some GPS activities - run, bike, walk (not interval workout even if you enable GPS). You must have GPS enabled.

You're saying that I need the GPS activated to be able to export heart rate info?  What about stuff like treadmill, or weights?

If you are asking about Fitbit sending data to Strava. Yes GPS is needed for the heart rate to be sent. Fitbit says that this works with Run and Bike, however some of the users have reported that their walks, with heart rate, also get sent to Strava.

As for treadmill and weights, currently it is a No.

I found this suggestion that votes may be added to.

@oeagleo yes, you need to use GPS. There is no way of exporting TCX file (all data including HR per second) from non-GPS exercises. Treadmill and weights are not exception.

Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing your export Sense activities to Strava @oeagleo@t.parker@Rich_Laue

As @Rich_Laue and @t.parker mentioned, only GPS activities can be exported to Fitbit Strava.

@AndreaFitbit is there a reason why the same rule doesn't apply to Interval Workout with GPS enabled? No way to export it despite the GPS is on.

Thanks for getting back to us and for your question @t.parker

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I'm glad you're taking advantage of your Sense. Please let me explain that currently only GPS recorded activities from Fitbit will sync to Strava such as run, walk or hike. Because interval workouts don't use GPS, those will appear on the Fitbit app to give you credit for your efforts but won't be able to be transferred to Strava. I'm sorry for this inconvenience and my best advice is to support this idea posted in the Feature Suggestions board by adding your vote so it can get the attention of our developers.

@AndreaFitbit you are clearly wrong. Interval Workouts MAY use GPS if you decide. Go and see in options for Interval Workout:

In the end, you will get a map but can't export activity. I'm not even talking strictly about Strava but even manually you cannot download the TCX file despite there is GPS in use. Any explanation?

Thanks for getting back to us, for adding your image and for the clarification @t.parker.

I don't know the exact reason why your activity doesn't transfer. Since your interval timer workout has GPS data but it's still not syncing, please revoke access to Strava and set it up again

To revoke access, do the following:

- Go to your online Dashboard

- Click in applications > find Strava

- Click in revoke access
