Sometimes I don't get messages through my watch and phone calls don't show up. I have always syncing tab on but it doesn't do seem to work It has to take a while before it's synced. Has my phone got to be connected to WiFi all the time to get the watch to sync?

Hi @AjObit, it's nice to have you in the Fitbit Community as a new member! Notifications should appear on your tracker when it's in range of your mobile device (about 20 feet). If notifications are delayed or missing try the recommendation from this post if you are on Android: My tracker isn't receiving notifications (Android Fitbit app). If you are on iOS then the following post will guide you through.
