Withings Scale Integration

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm getting an error when I try integrate Fitbit's service with my Withings scale. I tried to use this site: https://www.fitbit.com/weight/withings

and I get the following error:

  • Cannot link Withings profile at this time. Withings server returned the following error: The userid and publickey do not match, or the user does not share its data.

My user name and password are correct. I can see the list of profiles on my account, but once I try to select one and move forward I get the aforementioned error.

@Michael_AF @mccrearyp Trying using IFTTT, it's a good workaround in my opinion.

I tried using IFTTT in a couple ways and they both gave the same issue. I first tried a direct route: If I way my self on Withings then update my weight in Fitbit. That failed with "Invalid date: .... Date in future."

Next I tried having my Withings scale send me an e-mail with text in the body I could filter into a weight label. The subject contained only the weight in lbs. I then had another rule that checks for an e-mail that arrives in that weight label and adds a new weight into Fitbit using the subject as the weight value. I got the exact same error.

It looks like there is an issue with Fitbit's module in IFTTT as well, so that isn't a viable solution. The other solution of creating new accounts doesn't really work well either as I have over a year of data in each service's account that I would prefer not losing.

Well that stinks. I don't want to create a new Withings account. Never had to do this before.

Maybe Fitbit should make a new wifi scale to entice us with a shiny new product 🙂 An updated design/features couldn't hurt. Aria's been around for a while now.

The latest I've had from Withings is that they're working with Fitbit and are hoping to have a fix in place soon so hopefully it wont be too much longer.

Do they have an ETA for this? I contacted Fitbit support and they recommended IFTTT which did not work.

Of course they don't 😃

They probably don't even realize ifttt functionality is broken.

IFTTT seems to be working properly for other recipes not related to Withings, so I'm guessing it's just the Withings recipes that won't work.

It sounds like Withings is aware of an issue on their side though and they're working on a fix. I would hang tight until they can provide an update on the issue.

Is Fitbit working on a fix with Withings.

This is the response I got from Withings in relation to the issue:

Hello,

Thank you for your email. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing trouble in syncing data from your Withings account to Fitbit. It is important to note that only data from Withings is sent to Fitbit; We do not import any data from Fitbit to your Withings account. The connection on our end to send data to all partners is currently working properly. If data is not syncing to Fitbit, we recommend that you unlink and then relink the two accounts. If after doing this the data still does not transfer, or you are unsure how to unlink and relink the accounts, please contact Fitbit support for further assistance. We apologize for the inconvenience that this is causing. Do let us know if we can assist you with anything else.

Best regards,

hi, same discussion going on on the german forum:

Synchronisation Withings Waage mit Fitbit Dashboard funktioniert nicht

So there seems to be quite a bunch of affected users. Answers are bascially the same and just german 1:1 translations.

The last hint they were sending me is that it only works if you go into your data protections setting and set all data (ALL!) to be shared with ALL! .... wooo, I know german's are really picky on data protection topics, but this really doesn't seem to be a good solution Smiley Frustrated

Hope that we get here or there a solution for this problem.

How do you do that? I couldn't find a data sharing setting. TBH, if it
gets it working, I'm happy to do that!

I tried ... but it doesn't work either

If you want to try, go into your fitbit account. Should look somehow like that.... but dooesn't change anything beside of the fact that your sleep intensity and weight will be shared with the world

It's same thing here:

Tried to get integration working and no luck...

Kinda sad stuff to log in and see it's not really their concern to fix this...

I've been speaking with Withings customer service who have been sending me regular updates on the progress they have been making on this issue, Unfortunatly they have no ETA on a fix for this though :(.

I have however got it to work by doing the following.

  1. Removed my scales from my Withings account.
  2. Deleted my Withings User profile and downloaded the CSV Data (you are prompted after deleting your profile)
  3. Created a new Withings user profile
  4. Run the FitBit connection wizard which worked perfectly with the new profile and connected.
  5. Reconnected my scales to my Withings account.
  6. Restored my data history by importing the CSV files i downloaded earlier.
  7. All done!! It not syncs perfectly 🙂

Its worth noting my partner who i invited via withings, created her own withings account and didnt have this problem! nor did it effect her account when i did the above steps!

For what it's worth, linking accounts seems to work fine for me now (regardless of whether the account is new or not) - however data from my Withings scale is no longer syncing with Fitbit.

Data from my scale *IS* syncing with MyFitnessPal, however - but Fitbit's side appears to be broken yet again.

Edit: I've also unlinked and re-linked my accounts to no avail. New scale measurements are not making it to fitbit.

same here. Linking works. Data import works. Daily weight sync did work for 1 day and is now broken and doesn't sync anymore ....
