new to Fitbit (have a Charge 2) and recently added MyFitnessPal to record food intake.
have MFP and Fitbit syncing.
my understanding is that Fitbit gets a summarised calorie log from MFP (I'm ok with that)
and Fitbit supplies MFP with a calorie burn and steps count (I'm ok with that)
my question is does MFP send any notifications to my tracker device?
Like, maybe, a goal achieved?
I can't see anything in the settings (I have turned pretty much everything off on initial setup).
my reason for asking is that last night while sleeping my Charge 2 went off with some 'notifications' that I can't trace to anything else like my fitbit account or phone notifications.
Just trying to eliminate MFP as a source.

It's certainly not from MFP - the link is between your fitbit and MFP accounts and MFP doesn't know anything about your tracker.
I have seen posts of notifications when asleep when the fitbit daily goal is set to calories and the number is low enough that it's reached by your BMR calories burned while asleep. Could this be the cause?

thanks for that.
that could well be the issue, my main goal is Calories Burned.
and since fitbit decide you are burning cals while asleep?
tis odd tho, the day in question was not unusual, in fact I have been less active this week due to an injury.
I am wondering if the Calories Burned Goal also uses the Calorie intake somewhere in it's calculation?
? Maybe my new interface with MFP does have an impact on the Goal as to when the sync happens (like when I am asleep), and, altho I'm not recording it, MFP can pass exercise data back to fitbit?

That's odd. I don't think it could be taking into account your calories in but it's worth checking your profile settings for height, weight etc as if one of these have changed then it will directly affect the calorie burn rate: https://www.fitbit.com/user/profile/edit

can't see what triggered it, tho I suspect you are right about it being the Calories Burned Goal notification.
I did a search and could not see any other posts on it, do you remember if it was tracker specific or general fitbit? Do you recall the solution?
the goal setting is on the tracker not personal profile and says you must have a Goal and you will get a notification.
There doesn't seem to be any way to turn this off, and I can't see how fitbit decides when to send you the notification. Since I have had this wake up call only the one night I have a suspicion the MFP background sync might have triggered the goal? I have thought about choosing a different goal but can't see why those would not be met just as easily and hence inappropriately notified.
