Versa 3 is receiving multiple gmail notification at the same time

I have a Pixel 5 with my Versa 3 and the problem I'm having is that several times a day my watch will buzz non stop with notifications, one after another for almost a minute.  It shows each of the emails as "now" when they were received earlier.  Almost like they are queued up.  It is so annoying I'm considering disabling email notifications though that is one of the reasons why I bought this watch.  Tried searching for an answer but can't seem to find anyone that has this issue.

Not sure if this is an artifact of using this on a Pixel 5 with Android 11?  I tried to disable battery optimization in Gmail thinking it's a background process issue but it doesn't help.

Did you do the Bluetooth and Fitbit app battery savings and restart both watch and phone"

On the phone check battery optimizations

[the options may be different in your version]

  • First go to Settings > Apps & Notification > Special app access
  • Click on Battery optimization
  • Now press the drop down menu [...] and select “All Apps
  • Click on Bluetooth and then select “Don’t optimize
  • Same with Fitbit
  • Next go to Settings > Apps  > Fitbit > Storage
  • Clear cache [not data]
  • Force stop the Fitbit app

Hi there, @STEye. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. I understand how frustrating this can be.

As a first step, I'd recommend trying what @Guy_ has suggested above. If that doesn't work, please try removing the notifications and setting them up again. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Tell your phone to "forget" the bluetooth connection to your Fitbit device:
    1. On your phone, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
    2. Tap the information icon or gear icon next to the name of your Fitbit device.
    3. Find the option to forget the device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and set up notifications again, then sync your Fitbit device.

If you no longer want to receive gmail notifications, make sure you don't enable them again during this process.

Hope that helps.

Was this problem ever resolved?  I have exactly the same problem with Gmail, although I am using slightly different devices (Versa 2 with an Samsung Galaxy S10+).  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and everything else.

Perhaps Gmail sometimes reorganizes its notifications by removing the current notifications and replacing them with new ones?  However, this doesn't cause my phone to buzz lots of times, only my watch.  So the Versa must be handling the notifications differently than the Android phone does.

Can we please get a response to this?  I continue to have the problem.

It mainly causes me to ignore my watch notifications because they are so incessant!
