Occasionally I forget to start a run on my device. So I start it while in the run and of course the data is off from my actual run.
So I synch my device with my app and find the run. Click edit, part of the edits include changing the distance. I do that using the up and down slider thing. Once I set the distance at 4.2 miles and click done it always reverts to the original mileage. Start and stop times edit fine.
Solution?

Hi @Altoid4ever - this may be one of the issues with the new App.

If so let’s hope it’s on the “to fix” list. Thx

@Altoid4ever Users post this same question all the time. Fitbit doesn't let you edit the distance of an exercise if it was tracked by the Exercise app. This is true for both GPS and non-GPS exercises. I don't understand why we are given the option in the Edit field. But this is a long standing concern and has nothing to do with the updated Fitbit app.
There is no perfect solution if you forget to start your Run. The Versa 4 has a feature called Run Detect. When this feature is on, your Versa 4 can start the Run shortcut once it senses you are running. I don't use this feature, but I think your Fitbit vibrates and you still need to tap the Start arrow to start recording. I played around with this feature when it was first released on the original Versa. It gives you a steps x stride length distance for the non-GPS part of your run, then the GPS distance from the time it connects. If you use GPS, you might have five minutes or more of steps x stride length distance, depending on how quickly your GPS connects.

I disabled the detect feature for start and stop a while ago. It was more inconvenient than helpful. Being able to edit the distance would be great. But since we can’t what I do is note manually enter a run and then delete the one recorded by my Versa. I know the distance and how long it takes me to cover that distance. That method suffices.
An an aside, I have observed from Fitbit data for my runs that I am very consistent without trying to be so. Meaning when I complete my 4.2 mile run I am often within minutes of completing the route from day to day.

@LZeeW Update: You were right. App tricked me. After saving it, it shows in the activity with edited distance but after returning to the main screen distance reverts to normal. The app fooled me 🤣
not true. I just edited the distance of yesterday's run (new app, Android). It worked just fine. The distance input field gets red outlines suggesting an error but that can be ignored. It updates the distance upon saving.

@Triletics Thanks for mentioning the difference between Android and iPhones. I can't, and never have been able to edit the distance on an iPhone. My comments about editing include older comments from both Android and iPhone users.
