Spotify is not available on Versa 4

I recently "upgraded" to a Versa 4 only to learn I can't use/control Spotify from watch. What gives? Why would you remove this function? Would never have upgraded if I had known this in advance!

Recently learned from the support that this feature is not yet tested, and hence not available. Please hurry up 😉

Hi @WFarts @Tobiwan  - the Versa 4 and Sense 2 do not support any Music or 3rd party apps and is unlikely to change.

If you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy if bought direct from them or from an authorised shop perhaps, and some stores offer a 14 to 30 day refund.

Thank you. This is kind of ridiculous that they would strip a feature from the upgrade. I had my Versa 2 for a long time and loved it. I suppose I should have looked into this first, but assumed (I know, first mistake) that it would have everything and more/better features. I guess I was wrong. It's just more convenient when riding to tap the watch than dig out my phone. Oh well, I'll live.

Guy_,

according to the support, the Versa 4 does not yet support lot of 3rd party apps, as it is a question of testing. Means - that it seems to change. I was i.E. surprised when I was playing around with the lock functionality, to be able to switch from FitBit Pay functionality to Google Wallet on my Versa 4, which I see as sign for changes coming.

However, pointing towards the refund policy does not really help. I saw that this discussion goes on since this spring, and people are furious about it. But on the other hand - the German Word for NO is NEIN, which is an acronym for "Noch ein Impuls notwendig". Meaning - yet another impuls necessary... Getting a refund will not bring the 3rd party apps on my FitBit Versa 4, and there are other (more important) reasons than this functionality why I want to keep it :).

@Tobiwan- Fitbit originally announced that the Versa 4 had 100s of apps, but they since removed this, meaning don't expect third party apps.

You have the choice of keeping it or doing something else now that your are correctly informed.

Is it just me or is promoting a refund odd? Especially in the manufacturers forum and furthermore if it's promoted by someone who claims the ability to share correct information?

@Tobiwan you'd be surprised how many people who are unhappy with the device have no idea they have a refund option. I don't know if you are new to Fitbit but things here happen painfully slow. For users, who are not happy with the features of the device it is in fact better to return it and maybe buy it later again if things do improve. Otherwise, there is a risk of keeping a device that doesn't meet user's needs. As customers, we don't pay for promises but for the product that is available now. The option of refund is a Fitbit's policy so why would that be odd to mention it in the forum (moderators mention it from time to time, too)? Is it better to tell users "keep device you're unhappy with, wait and see what happens"? Well, some of us do wait and what we see? Google Wallet came crippled compared to the mobile version, Maps failed on launch and has been withdrawn, haven't seen it back yet. With such a messed up process how can we expect improvements anytime soon?

No, it's not better to tell customers to wait until things get better while they use a product that does not fit their needs.

But if we have possibilities to create noise in order to make the developers aware of needs, we should do that!

The spotify feature is not crucial for me, and I like (and am used) to the FitBit features, which is why I won't give it back.

But Spotify it's still a nice to have, hence I voted for the feature request.

BTW - I bought the watch in a local electronic store. As far as I understood (did not dig deep though), the refund policy only applys if I would have bought it directly from FitBit. Hence, I'd have to rely on the retailers goodwill. And I can tell, you this particular one does not know what that means!

Hi @gibbyhome  - there are no 3rd party apps for a Versa 4, there are some ported developer clock faces, but they are unsupported currently. They may be supported later.

The Versa 4 does not have any Music ability or Spotify or Google Assistant and some other features features you had on a 3 are missing on the 4.

Coming from a Versa 3 to a Pixel it is understandable, especially it's short battery life.

The question is what was wrong with Versa 3?

I was very excited about this watch until I just discovered this myself today.  I consider this one of the main functions and reasons of using a fitbit watch.  The only reason I lug around my phone on runs or to the gym is for music.  My phone is not only inconvenience to carry but a distraction from my workouts as well..  It makes no sense to me why they would remove such a crucial function to an "upgrade".  If fitbit has no plans of adding this feature then I will be looking for a new watch unfortunately.
