Swim tracking

I bought a Versa 4 to replace my Versa 2. After several swims I determined my Versa 4 was not counting about 20% of my laps.  I used my Versa 2 which was way more accurate and was never anywhere this far off. I called support several times and tried all there troubleshooting recommendations with zero improvement. I finally got a replacement Versa 4 and am having the exact same issue.

Is this a known issue?  This can’t be coincidence on two separate Versa 4s. The amount of laps it’s missing makes it impossible to track my progress.  Has anyone been able to swim successfully with a Versa 4. I’m thinking of returning and trying a non-Fitbit tracker, but would rather get a fix.

I'm surprised any Fitbit counts your laps correctly. My Sense 2 was failing at it greatly (and Versa 4 is just Sense 2 without some features). My Sense also counts wrong and now Charge 6 is probably as bad as Sense 2 was (yesterday, 1600m has been cut down to 1250m so it's 28% of distance and it's not isolated case). Fitbit isn't counting laps, it's guessing them 🤷

Thanks for the feedback. I would swim a mile (72 one mile - 25yd. lengths), and the Versa 2 would typically miss 1-3 lengths). I don’t utilize a flip turn. Swimming similarly with Versa 4, just swimming approximately 50 lengths it’s only recognizing approximately 40 lengths, so a big difference in accuracy.  Almost pointless to use Versa 4 as a swim tracker. Fitbit seems or at least acts unaware that this is any sort of widespread issue, and only provides canned troubleshooting recommendations that are useless.
