Versa 4 Bootloop/Side Button unresponsive

Hey Guys and Gals,

Today my Versa 4 all of a sudden started freaking out, activating the shortcut like i would be holding the side button pressed and then turned off.

It then went in to Bootloop, showing the flashing Fitbit Logo (black and blue Background over and over again) until a big red cross appeared. It then shut off and started over.

I did the hard reset via Side Button, after 4-5 tries i finally managed to Set it up again and download the firmware. It then seemed to Work and was responsive, however the side button didn't respond at all. I could neither pull up the menu with a short push, nor use my shortcut with a Long Push or even restart it. I shut it via the settings menu and now it wont even Turn on.

I have to say I'm kinda angry, i only bought it 5 months ago and now it already seems to be broken. Whats kinda funny is that my 6 months premium Trial ends tomorrow and I chose not to extend it. And now, a day later, my Fitbit stopped working all of a sudden.

What should I do? It's my first Fitbit, If that really is their Level of quality, I might move on.

Hi @DanDu93 - place it on charge to see if it starts.

Also after try holding the watch button for a full  10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start.

If you don't succeed it can be replaced under warranty and you can always chat via the Fitbit App, Help & support section, Contact Customer support.

Charging makes it even worse, everytime i plug it in, it reboots and then it goes back into Bootloop.

I already tried holding it 10 Seconds, the button doesnt seem to Work at all anymore.

Hey 🙂

I had the same issue!! Good news is, I found a workaround. I have to admit it took ages to find out how to factory reset the watch using the side button, but I was lucky enough to spot a comment on a youtube video which gave me the steps.

I've created my own seperate post, but as it's not a question I'm not sure if it will be removed (again, it's not a question but I couldn't think of any where else to share it). I've copy and pasted my post below. Good luck!

"Hi!
So I had an issue booting up my partner's new Versa 4 and I hoped to find the answer in the forum, but no joy.

However I was able to fix it myself, and I think sharing my solution may help others.

Firstly, if your watch only shows the fitbit logo and then switches off, you will find on the forum that you can hold the side button for 10ish seconds to 'hard reset' the watch. Some people may say this is a factory reset, but it's more like restarting your computer when something stops working. Some people my also say that you should reconnect it to your charger (I'll come back to this).

If reseting the watch doesn't work, hold the button again until the logo appears, then (quickly) click and hold it a second time. You will now see a different screen, and the logo will appear with a circle. Then you will see a loading bar. At his point leave it on charge, pop into your kitchen, make yourself a cup of tea, take a few deep breaths, then have a look at the watch again. Hopefully you should now see the language selection screen!

When the watch finally booted we saw that the battery was 98% full, so the issue wasn't due to the watch now having enough juice out the box. However, still try charging it first before factory reseting the watch, just to rule it out as a cause.

There were also a few issues when we paired the watch with my partners phone. The watch did connect, but the app and the watch froze (the green tick screen). We then had to hard reset the watch (hold ten second and let go) and close a reopen the app (we also switched bluetooth on and off again). Then we had to update the firmware on the watch. The app does guide you through firmware updates, and it's exactly the same has updates on your handset.

As a disclaimer, this method would only apply for watches out of the box. If you factory reset your watch, and you have already have data saved to the watch, it will be wiped (completely!)."
