I wish to extract raw data OR use an API to extract information from the device.

How does the whole web api work? Do i connect to fitbit servers?

I wish to connect to the device itself and use the data there is it possible?

 

 

Can i use Google Fit API to read the data?

Clinics transfer records using Internet (= IP) mechanism over protected VPN tunnels NOT to a Server in the Internet but to a Server in their own Intranet, that's an important difference!

Maybe there is a solution: if we can avoid patients handling their accounts.

A developer (a coach actually) would have an accont to authenticate to FitBit. He would then create users, assign devices etc... A coaching business model, really. Now, this may do the job for us.
