Hi everyone -
I have a FitBit Zip for a couple of years - and ever since I got it - I've been mostly unable to use the track exercise part of the app. The problem occurs when I try to search for an exercise, app freezes and doesn't bring up search results. Once I was able to get it to take 'bike' and a couple other ones like 'gardening' and 'stretching' for some reason but for the most part it usually doesn't work. I've been able to select bike sometimes, because its the exercise I attempt to track most often - so it will sometimes come up as a recent search so I can record it. However, I just tried again tonight and couldn't get the app to bring up even my most recent searches. Is this possibly just a bug in the app? My sister and my Mom have the same issue and they also have the FitBit Zip. Has anyone else had this issue?
Sorry I was so long winded here - but if someone could help me I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,
Jessi

@jessilw welcome, welcome! It's nice seeing new faces around. That definitely sounds a bit odd. Just out of curiosity, have you tried logging out from your app, restart your mobile device and then logging back in again. That sometimes does the trick!
Also, it's very important to verify that your Fitbit app has been updated to its latest version. Not having the latest version could cause some discrepancies while interacting with it. If possible, please post me a screenshot of what you are describing, so that I can take a deeper look into it.
In the meantime, please refer to the article: How do I track my exercise and activities with Fitbit? I'll be looking forward to your new comments!

HI Miriam - I replied via email but will also post my replies here to help anyone else having this issue - again thank you for your help! 😃
Here they are:
Hi Miriam -
Thanks for your response - I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you! So I did sign out of the app & restart my device. When I logged back in and tried to log exercise - I was able to see some exercises I've logged before on the rare occasion it would let me. I was also able to type a new exercise in the search box and hit search - which is farther than I've gotten before.
However it did freeze up during the search and didn't return anything. Is it possible our wifi is just too slow? We are on satellite internet since we are rural and I don't sync it on cellular so as not to use up our small data plan when I can sync it at home with wifi. Maybe that's the problem?
I really appreciate your help! Thanks again,
Jessi 😊
p.s. Our internet is reasonably fast for most things but sometimes the upload speed can be a little slow & it's definitely too slow for apps like periscope and the like. Not sure how fast it needs to be for the Fitbit app but just a thought I had 😃 Have a great night! - Jessi
Hi again Miriam -
Sorry to reply so many times but just for the sake of diagnosing the problem I tried using our cellular data to log an exercise and it worked perfectly and smoothly - no hiccups or issues 👍🏻
So I think I answered my own question that I posed to you in my last reply - it is our wifi that is causing the issue - not a Fitbit app problem! I'm glad to know what the problem is now - I should've thought to test that before 😊 Thanks so much for your time!
Sincerely,
Jessi

After having frustrating issues with Charge 2 and HR not tracking correctly, I went back to my original Zip, which I never had issues with. (Why did I "upgrade"?) Now I find that after a 30 minute walk, my time doesn't log as "tracked exercise" on my phone dashboard. It shows my steps, my time, but as it only shows 'active days' as the day, Sunday I wore my Charge 2 when I went jogging. Why is this? I'm just as active, if not more so, on days I wear my Zip so I'd like it to show my days as active. Any suggestions?

Hey @mommo77! Well, I'm a little confused here. Are you using your Zip or your Charge 2? Please keep in mind that it isn't recommended to wear two or more trackers at the same time as this could cause some discrepancies when tracking your stats. Also, I'd highly appreciate if you could please post me a screenshot of your active days so I can have a better picture of the situation. Looking forward to your new comments!
