Welcome to the forums @MostAvidReader
It's all up to you when you sync. You can go to the app on phone or computer and tell it to "sync now" and it will. I have a friend who likes to sync once a day, so she has her bluetooth turned off on her phone.
You can always sync manually if you feel it's not syncing enough by itself.
Let us know what happens.

Awesome help @Odyssey13! 😉 Welcome to the Forums @MostAvidReader! Thanks for sharing your experience with your Zip.
Syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. To know more about this, take a look at the help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
I hope this helps, keep me posted! 🙂

I can't figure out how to sync manually - that's part of my problem. I can refresh my computer page...that doesn't work. I've read the article BUT I have Windows 7, not Windows 10, so the info doesn't apply.
I have also noticed that the actual total on my Fitbit Zip at night when I go to bed is often different than what I read on my dashboard. I would think they would be the same, but the midnight total on the computer is always lower than what the fitbit reads.

Thanks for the update @MostAvidReader! I'd love to clarify for you how to manually sync with your Fitbit Connect Software using your Windows 7.
Click the icon with a Fitbit logo located near the date and time on your computer.
Regarding the incorrect information you mentioned, make sure that your tracker is working correctly by restating it. Also, you can try to verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed here.
I hope this helps, keep me posted! 🙂
