The instructions say you can wear a Zip anywhere on you torso. BUT I found that if it's not right over your hip. it doesn't count steps. Yesterday it counted 300 steps even thought I was moving all day. Today it just wan't counting until I repositioned it low over my hip and now it's counting fine

It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community @Metoo5! Thanks for sharing your experience and tips for Fitbit Zip. Your Fitbit Zip is designed to be worn close to the body. A shirt pocket, bra, pants pocket, belt, or waistband are all ideal places to wear your Zip.
If your Zip is not tracking your steps correctly in any of these places, please restart it to assure that is working correctly.
Let me know the outcome! 😉

Mine will only track if it's on my hip. I've tried clipping it to the v neck of a dress and it doesn't work. So I'll just clip it to my underwear.

A while ago i found a website that was conducting an informal test. They found tye best place yo wher a clip on tracker was 5 inches from the hip bone at waist level clipped to a belt. Clipped to the waist band or bra where the next best place. The pocket was found to be as much as 10% off.
His data was not broken down by tracker models or companies, so treat this as a very generic survey.
