Zip battery drain after iOS 2.39 update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Fitbit update 10/9/2017: This has been resolved in update 2.41.1. Please update your app  if you continue to experience this issue. Thanks again for your reports and patience. As this issue is resolved, I'll be closing this thread for further comments.

I've merged a few posts together because we received several reports of battery draining for Zip users on iOS after the 2.39 update. Our team is currently investigating the root cause of this issue and will be hard at work to get a fix out as quickly as possible to get you all back on track. Once I receive an update from them I will update this thread and will make sure to keep you all in the loop.

Also note, we have had reports that turning off all-day-sync has helped as a workaround and worth a try until this issue is resolved.

Thanks for your help with reporting this and for your continued patience.

So is the battery actually draining or is it just the display on the zip and app showing it's low battery, when the battery is actually fine? Do I need to replace the battery, as it is now flashing to show very low battery on my unit? I don't understand how an app update would cause the battery to drain in a week. It is expensive if I have to keep replacing the battery until the app update is fixed. In one day it went from 70% to 30% according to the Fitbit diagnostics,

To answer my own question, my zip just died 😞 I don't understand how a software issue is causing the battery to physically drain so quickly?

Where do I go to turn off these apps?

Ty. As I have been trying a new battery every day. Very frustrating but nice to know I. Good company. Meanwhile what are current zip fit bit users supposed to do. Is there an exchange policy or notification of software update ?

I have deleted the Fitbit apps off my phone and iPad. I have downloaded the app for computer and I am syncing occasionally through the day on the computer. It does mean I can still do challenges and see my progress against my goals etc and log weight etc. It is the software in the apps continuallly trying to sync that is the problem that drains the battery, even for me when I turned all day sync off. The computer I just log in and sync and then take dongle out if I am still using cimputer or turn computer off to be safe!! Although I don't think it is trying to continually sync, I just want to be sure!

Seems to be working ok as a work round 🙂 my battery life is still good and I can still use all the Fitbit features from app I usually do except track a walk.

Hope that helps

I was having the same problem.  I would replace the new battery and in two days I was getting a low battery message.  I contacted the Fitbit help desk and they had no solution.  Then a friend gave me the solution.  Go into your Dashboard.  Click on the flashing battery.  Deactivate the All-Day Sync.  When I did this my Fitbit Zip immediately showed a full battery again and it still does after two weeks.  Unfortunately I had already ordered a new Fitbit One before I learned this trip.  However, I did receive a 25% discount from the customer service desk.

I don't have mine on the all day sync, but don't know what the flashing battery is.

In the upper left hand corner of the Dashboard screen there is a battery symbol that shows how much charge you have left. It actually is not flashing. Above that is a flashing icon that when you select it it takes you to the page where you can toggle off the All-Day sync. But you said you do dot have yours on. As soon as I toggled it off and went back and looked at my battery charge it was showing a full charge and still is. Sorry this did not work for you.

Turning off All Day Sync helps a lot.  I've been able to use batteries that previously showed as dead, getting about one additional week per battery.

I've had my Zip for several years and have always found the battery life to be inconsistent but one to two days is ridiculous. They claim it is a result of the latest iOS software update. This has been going on for a while now and I personally can not keep buying batteries with this frequency. Something needs to be done, and fast. Fitbit also needs to stand behind their product, and accept responsibility. It is virtually useless this way. Anyone familiar with other trackers similar to the Zip?

Big Jake. I'm using the CR 2025 but I'll get the one u say and see if it works. Fitbit sent me a new Fitbit and I immediately put a new battery and the next day was almost dead , I'm afraid to move the clip from the back of batt cause the first time I tried to fix it I broke the smallest clip   But I'm happy Fitbit helped me   I'll just try with this batt ur suggesting. Hopefully works for months. Thank you

HI Nam,

The 3023 battery takes care of having to fiddle with the battery contact in the back of the case,  The thicker 2032 battery does that for you.  Let me know how the 2032 battery works for you.

I noted I referred to the battery as 2023 in my first sentence.  That is not correct,  It is a 2032.  Sorry, bad fingers.

How about we get back to having the Zip battery issue resolved so that we can all get back to using your product as it used to be!
