Zip stopped working after changing the battery

My zip dashboard is showing that I have a low battery and the steps from yesterday are still showing even after I changed the battery and synced the device.  I even left the battery out for an hour .

Changing the battery isn't going to change the step count @Mamakupe 

Did the battery go completely dead overnight? Is it possible that the Zip was not working at midnight? This would explain the steps being carried over.
