Alta HR Calories burned lagging when synced

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I’m the last week my Fitbit Alta HR is showing me low total cals burned when it syncs. Ex: After workout I synced at 1,399 total cals burned. Before bed I synced again and was 1,404 cals burned. (Still seemed low). I synced again today & looked back at the same day that stared at 1,399 total cals burned & it’s now 1,757 total cals burned which is in the range I expected. Why did it take a day to be accurate and why such a delay? Usually it syncs properly the first time.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Char84.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern about the number of the total calories burned after syncing your Alta HR tracker. Thank you for the details shared. Calorie burn is based on two factors: your basal metabolic rate (or BMR) and activity tracked by your device. This may explain why your calories burned for the whole day resulted in a higher number. For more information, please see How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?

If you feel that your calories count is inaccurate, please verify if your personal details are correct: How do I manage my Fitbit profile?

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around.

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I’ve tried all troubleshooting on syncing my device and Bluetooth.  I have lost weight, but my weight is up to date in the app. My issue is I don’t feel the app and my tracker are syncing properly. Example: I worked out today and met my step goal.  I know I should be around 1,800 calories burned. My app is only showing I am at 1,600 cals burned. I synced again and it went up to 1,615 cals burned and I haven’t taken any steps or done anything to account for the increase. It’s like it takes my tracker multiple syncs to actually provide an accurate calories burned. Usually, (since this update of the app a month ago) it’s the next day when my app and Fitbit seem to completed syncing calories burned for the previous day. This is an issue to me as I rely on accurate info for calories burned to instantly know if I need to do more activity or how many calories I can budget to eat.

Hi @Char84, thank you for your reply.

I appreciate the additional details, I understand that getting correct number of calories is important to you. In order to investigate further, please let me know if you have any third party apps connected to your Fitbit account? I also would like to confirm if the calories you see on your Alta HR match the number in the app after syncing?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hello again,

Yes, for 3rd party apps: I have the Schwinn trainer app, my fitness pal app, and map my ride app.

The calories I see on my Alta HR and the app both match after syncing. But, as mentioned they keep changing as my fitbit syncs.

It just seems like really odd behaviour. It used to sync once and be accurate with calories burned. Now it seems like it syncs more than once and it keeps changing my calories burned. I even tried resetting my device and deleting it from my account and re adding it. This all seemed to happen after the Fitbit app update that happened about a month ago.
