My Alta will not sync. It charges and works but does not sync on my IOS phone application or desktop applications.
I have tried every recommendation, turning bluetooth on and off, reinstalling, fiddling with the gold prongs on the charger, but nothing seem to work.

If so, how many times did you try it? It's known to not always work and it's recommended to try it at least 3 times.
