Battery level disappeared on new Fitbit app

The old app always showed my battery level in the upper right corner. The new app does not seem to show it anywhere. Am I missing something? I know I can swipe right on my Fitbit and I get an email when it’s low but it was handy to easily monitor it.

No, you didn't start this thread (unless you have more than one account) and percentages were not even mentioned in original post. The original poster couldn't find the battery level on the new app at all. Agree with you it's not an improvement. But having battery percentage available on your watch itself and level indicator on the app is far different than having nothing anywhere.

Unless I misread it, people not having battery percentage indicators on clock faces didn't happen as a result of the app update. The app update didn't seem to affect clock faces or their availability or offerings. That being said,  the uproar began with the complete removal of the battery indicator on the app. The current 3 range indicator is garbage. If people suddenly started complaining about lack of clock face options it doesn't seem to be a result of the update. I'm out.

For those of us who cannot see the display on the watch,we rely on the Phone App to tell us when the Battery is 'low' , otherwise we really don't know.  Looking on the watch itself is useless, as the display is not big enough, the only display we have is the charger and that can be inaccurate, also the Battery on the 'new' charge 5 display is done after two days.

Every time they change the design this happens! The developers never think of the old people who cannot see battery usage on the watch, so it was very convenient on the phone because you can see it without glasses.  What's the matter with the old configuration why did you have to change it , you people you inconsiderate miscreant developers you change things without thinking, I know I have been married to one for 38 years and the cretin NEVER THINKS!

Hey jcmillercfp, that does not work, we don't all have the same watch configurations.

To Vinny regarding his comment "other comments stated no battery anything on the device itself. I still don't know for a certainty whether that's true or not," ... You say you do not know for certain, so I am telling you that it is a fact that the Fitbit Flex 2 DOES NOT HAVE ANY BATTERY LEVEL INDICATOR.  In fact, it has no intelligent face on it at all.  Just 5 tiny LED indicators.  The only way to see the charge level is to place it into the charging cradle and then while it charges it flashes the number of LEDs relative to the percentage of charge.  It makes ZERO SENSE to remove the battery indicator on the opening page of the application.  Worse, yet, I lost the percentage completely since now I only see wither "full", "medium", or "low" after going to the third screen from the opening one.  I stand by my original comment that the person who removed this should be fired since it wil cost the company dearly in future sales revenues.

I raised the question about the battery percentage not being available on the app with the update.

Incredibly stupid to remove it from the app. Couldn't believe it and searched and searched but nowhere to be found.

How can not a core feature, remaining battery, not be shown? #facepalm

Removing a core feature is not solved by using a specific clock face that you like. What about other clock faces that ppl want to use instead for various reasons? Of course battery percentage should be available in the app. The information is synced, why not display it?

Sounds like every Fitbit model is different. I was talking about the Fitbit "Charge" battery percentage displayed on the device and linked a video to that model showing how to see battery percentage. You're talking about the Flex now. Well if all you ever got is 1-5 bars on your Flex watch itself, and now, 1-3 bars on the app it's sure better than nothing. I mean it ain't rocket science to see between 1-5 bars of battery left and what you should do.

I've owned all the Fitbit Versa models and now finally the Sense 2. I can choose between hundreds of clock faces with battery percentage shown. At 61 years old it needs to be decent sized and not puny. I get 6 days of battery life from my Sense 2. In my 7 years of being a Fitbit owner have never gone below 70 percent since I always charge mine daily. Just flicking my wrist right now I can see I'm at 97 percent full.

I agree with everyone posting here that new app LAYOUT is a step backwards from previous. But I've found that I can customize it how I want and now am good with it. When the last layout changed years ago myself along with many others whined about those changes. Now most users want that one we whined about years ago put back. In the end we all get used to it and even learn to like it.

Some changes are bad changes. Going from the app displaying exactly battery percentages to just low/med/full, IS one of those bad changes for people who rely on the app. I like knowing 97 percent (exactly) and not just "full". So I do understand why that is frustrating for people who have no other way to get exact percentage. Flex owners are screwed it seems like. But still, 1-5 bars on the device itself is helpful.

Like I mentioned yesterday you can go to the features and suggestion pages and vote as well as chime in on suggested changes. I did that earlier this year on a sense 2 issue and it was corrected by Fitbit one week later. This is one of those things I would guess will be corrected sooner than later.

Sorry, but no.  When you have your device charging on the bedside or counter or wherever, it is far more convenient to check the app than to go over to the device.

Best Answer

All well and good, but when the Fitbit is in the other room on the charger, it's nice to be able to check the charging status from your desk.

Not a fan of removing useful features or making things more difficult in new software.

I have the inspire 2 and that face is really small so use the app opening
page to see if my battery is needing a charge but now with the high med
low cannot tell when it really must be charged and am doing it more often
then needed as cannot tell if just one tile is left which the old way did.
Also I have to do 2nd click on the app to show how much battery is left
when before it was on the opening page and very clear to see. I also do not
like how the active tile is organized much preferred the old one with
colors orange and red. Definitely not happy.

You are correct, the new app totally sucks. And if you look or read through all the recent posts regarding the new app, and there are thousands, you will not see one reply or comment from fitbit support or google addressing the total failures of the new app.  Do you know why?  Because Google bought Fitbit 4 years ago and ruined the fitbit app, ruined Fitbit as a company, and Google doesn't care about Fitbit customers or Fitbit premium subscribers.  Google only wanted to raid Fitbit for their technology to create the "Google Watch".  I will not be renewing my Fitbit- uh,er - Google Premium subscription!

An 8 year old would have kept the old app and made a few minor updates and had a lot of happy app users!  The so called "tech geniuses" at Google, collectively, are not nearly as smart as most 8 year olds!

Best Answer

I totally agree!
I *always* look at the app when I am charging my FitBit, to monitor the charging progress.
With the new version of the app, I can no longer do that.

Best Answer
Not for old people who cannot see the screen, it was more convieant to have
the percentage on the app, because you cannot read the clock face, too
small..
