I needed to restart the device AGAIN this morning. Eventually it did do the trick again, but I hope this isn’t going to be doing this every now and then..... I also updated the device so I hope that might fix it.

I have had the Charge 3 for 5 days and I have had to restart it 4 times. I’ve chatted with Fitbit support twice and they’ve given no indication that this is a widespread problem. Person I chatted with yesterday just completely ignored the problems I’ve already had with it.

Throughout the 4 days I’ve also seen THREE software updates come through so i kind of figured there was a wider issue so I went searching in the forum. I’ve been a Fitbit user for over 7 years - I don’t think this one was ready for prime time!!  Ya know if you need beta product testers, Fitbit, I’m free 😉

Im having same problem, restart not working still wont sync - wont even update now.

Seems like Charge 3 wasnt really ready to be released yet, think i will be sending this back.

Only had 4 days and now not working. Pretty rubbish!

Agree. Mine stopped syncing (and tracking sleep) after a couple of days. The proposed fix made it sync one time. Currently, it does not help anymore... Not syncing nor tracking sleep.

I will be sending my Charge3 back soon, currently pretty useless device....

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear that your Charge 3 isn't syncing with your Fitbit app. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device (this link should work as it directs to the help article).

Let me know how it goes!

Resetting it, while it charged, finally worked for the 2 in our household

I’m having constant syncing problems.

UPDATE:

Works for me for only 1 sync then screws up again!

UPDATE 2:

I have turned Bluetooth on an off and back on, shutdown then turned back on device, restarted Fitbit 3 while connected to clamp and get the smiley face.  Sync will work a few tines after that then it stops.  I think it was like this with Fitbit 2.  You should beta-test before you release new device.

UPDATE 3

And I try to PAIR  up a new device and can’t even do that — get an error 28 message. Are we who bought the Fitbit 3 your beta users?  You should pay us for it.

Thanks, now Charge3 started working. I hope this was the permanent fix to
this sync problem.

Thanks for the reply. This morning it did not sync first time I opened app. The green syncing line had completed but the step count was 0. A half hour later I opened app and the step count was there before the green sync line had begun.

I have tried everything.  I've had this for less than a week.  Worked fine.  Now ... my phone can't find it.  I've tried closing out my blue tooth.  Restarting.  Removed the Fitbit from the recognizable devices.  Reinstalled the ap on my phone.  I've removed it from my account.  Trying to add the Fitbit again to my account, but my phone and my Mac can't find it.  my Fitbit is charged to 100%.  Please help.

You may have to ‘pair’ your iPhone to your device again. Go to the Fitbit app on iphone. Select that settings(?) icon upper right side. That takes you to Account. If your Charge 3 device is not listed, click Set up a New Device.
With all the troubleshooting you have done, you have probably un-paired the device to your iPhone. Another way to see if your device is ‘paired’ — it should show in your Bluetooth settings.  Sometimes in my Bluetooth settings it shows my device is there but it’s inactive so I have to activate it.

Mine are paired (communicating with one another) but still having trouble syncing (in real-time) to Fitbit app. The next day shows the total steps taken the day before. The app is very buggy. Good luck Mama.

UPDATE:

That’s my problem — my Fitbit charge 3 does not stay connected to my iPad Bluetooth.  My other Fitbit devices always stayed connected (once paired).  Maybe it’s an Apple problem and we have to wait for the next iOS update?  I am running the latest 12.01 iOS. Also the latest Fitbit App 20001.31.93

I've tried all of those things & yet I still have a charge 3 which only syncs when it feels like it, sometimes it wont even show up on the phone via Bluetooth, continually having to manually add activity because the charge 3 says I have done the hourly activity but the app says not. Sleep not syncing or recording & yet when I had the charge 2 never had any of these problems.

I am fed up of switching my phone off & back on to try & get it to work correctly, even done a reset on the charge 3 but all to no avail. Fitbit support I am afraid to say are no help whatsoever.

Is anyone else having these issues or am I just the unlucky one.

Would I recommend the charge 3, NO would be the answer my level of disappointment is very high & the level of support for this issue is very low.

A very disgruntled Fitbit owner.

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation int the Forums and for sharing your experience and the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. I would like to clarify some things first:

  • Your Charge 3 will not sync nor pair through the Bluetooth Settings on your phone. If you don't see it connected it's because the device has not been established a Bluetooth link with your phone. To enable a Bluetooth link set up Notifications or All-day Sync. You will be asked to "pair" your phone with the device, please do.
  • It's possible the Charge 3 will appear as "not connected" in the Bluetooth Settings of your phone, that means the app is not syncing with the device. If you'd like the device to be connected all the time, please enable All-day Sync.
  • If you have any other Bluetooth devices (phones or tablets) that have paired with other Bluetooth devices or your Charge 3, please go to their Bluetooth Settings and remove all Fitbit devices in the list of paired devices. This excludes the current phone or tablet you're using. Your Charge 3 can only establish a Bluetooth link with 1 device, meaning that if you try to sync with another while a Bluetooth link is already established with other phone or tablet, the new device will have trouble syncing if the first phone or tablet are in range.

With that said and if you're still experiencing syncing issues I would like to ask you to try the following steps in order:

  1. Update the OS on your phone
  2. Update the Fitbit app, if you haven't done it yet.
  3. Restart your phone
  4. Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  5. Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone again.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

My phone has the latest IOS system on it. The charge 3 has been reset time & time again. One minute it’s showing on Bluetooth then it decides not to. Even when it is attached via Bluetooth the charge 3 will say the activity per hour is done but the app says not. The sleep cycles don’t record properly sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t. I have restarted the phone time & time again as well yet this problem keeps happening & as I said previously my charge 2 never had this issue.

Yet all you keep telling me it is a problem with everything bar the fact the charge 3 doesn’t appear to be working as it should & frankly I am tired of saying the same thing.

So perhaps you can look into what is actually causing the problem.
