Charge 4 losing Bluetooth connection

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Charge 4 is and has been problematic since I purchased this in June. 2020 - Not reliable. Constantly losing Bluetooth connection - incredibly annoying . My earlier tracker was great and reliable , I only moved to the Charge 4 for the bigger screen. I would suggest people look to another tracker until this and other problems are resolved- on I Phone  Pro

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Guywalking.

I am sorry to hear your Charge 4 is constantly losing Bluetooth connection. Thanks for the additional details, I am glad to help. I totally understand how you are feeling and appreciate your feedback. Our team is always working on our products and services, and your comments are always welcome. I recommend trying the following:

  1. Verify if the Fitbit app is updated to the latest version. For instructions, see this help article.
  2. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  3. On your phone, tap Settings > Bluetooth > the information icon next to the name of your Fitbit device > Forget This Device.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and set up the connection again. You should receive a message asking you to allow your Fitbit device to pair with your phone. Tap Pair to approve the request.

For complete troubleshooting instructions, see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Keep me posted on the outcome. I'll be around if you have any questions.

Thanks for your reply, Appreciate it!

The Fitbit Charge4 is not stable with Bluetooth. I did everything you suggested in your note and it still falls out; this is annoying. I'm seriously considering moving to another tracker at this point which is too bad given I've been quite pleased with Fitbit for these past couple of years.

The Development team needs to look long and hard at resolving this issue,  I'm sure others are having similar issues.

I just got my Charge 4 last week. I connected the tracker with new iPhone SE. However the bluetooth connection is disconnecting as frequently as every half an hour and receiving a message saying "Lost Bluetooth Pairing". I did not have this issue with Charge 3 which I had been using until about 10 days ago.

My Fitbit app version is 3.35

My SE is with iOS version 14.1

I would appreciate if Fitbit can help me solving the issue.

I started to consider returning Charge 4 if the problem is not solved.

I just called with the same issue with my Inspire HR + iPhone 11 Pro.  I was told that the engineers were aware of the iOS issue and are currently working on a fix.  He mentioned to watch for an app release at some point to resolve the issue.

Thank you for sharing information with me.
On my side I went through the steps for the investigation process with the
tech service. I had to factory reset my device and recommended it with my
iPhone. After spending time I found that the issue didn’t get solved. Tech
service issued a case# on Monday and I have been waiting for them to
contact me. The investigation was done via Twitter and the communication
wasn’t great as I was wondering if they were actually reading my comments.
I felt like I was dealing with a robot or AI.

I hate to tell you this but I think it's your iphone.  As soon as I got my iphone SE my fitbit started losing Bluetooth connection (constantly) and my hearing aides won't connect at all.  I even got a new iphone from Apple, didn't make any difference.

I've got an Android phone and is the same story. Extremely annoying connectivity issue. It's just a very bad quality Bluetooth technology unfortunately. I hope they can fix it on the firmware side sooner than later. I'm already giving a negative word-of-mouth the product since it's not the cheapest in the market.

I am so frustrated as well.  I bought the Fitbit Charge 4 at Christmas and I just started using it two weeks ago and am ready to throw it out.  Any luck getting yours to work properly?

Best Answer
No, unfortunately not. I have kind of been ignoring the iPhone-to-Fitbit link lately. I just watch the steps on the Fitbit and sometime during the day it links up by itself.

Well, that is interesting that it connects by itself. I have children and they frequently text me during day. They are in college so I like to see their messages on my fitbit during work.

And I didn’t even know you could DO that!

It’s now June 2021. I bought my Charge 4 in May 2020, partly in the hope of resolving the following issue. It didn’t. It was my 5th Fitbit model since 2015. It’s a way of life for me now, but for the past 14 months the only way I’ve  been able to sync my Fitbit 99% of the time is to go to settings/Bluetooth/forget Charge 4/re-pair it  ……… and so on..every single time! It’s really annoying. I’m used to doing it now, but I couldn’t possibly recommend Fitbit to anyone looking for a fitness tracker! I wish I could solve the problem. You won’t lose me as a customer. I’m hooked. but…

Is your phone and your Fitbit app updated.  Since all of the updates, I haven’t had a problem

fir quite a while now.  I am happy.  My gps works, it syncs all the time.

Thanks for replying, but I’ve tried that. Everything IS up-to-date. I’ve repeatedly tried ALL the steps recommended by Fitbit Support. Over and over, but nothing works. Whether I’m at home with WiFi or out walking using 4G. It’s something to do with the Bluetooth connectivity, I’m sure, but I don’t know what. It’s important for me to be able to sync regularly because I have a large group of Fitbit friends and take part in a lot of challenges and games. I find them very motivational especially the Bingo games. I live in UK near London, but strangely on a recent 3 day trip to York in the north, staying in a hotel, my Fitbit synced perfectly every time. I also really want to upgrade to a Sense for the extra health monitoring, but not if I’m going to have this sort of issue.

I suppose I could move to York!!

Like Guywalking, I have had my Charage 4 for well over a year.  I previously owned a Charge 2 and never had any issues with it.  I only traded “up” because it was a perk from my medicare supplemental plan.  I wondered if the plan was getting the freebies to pass out to unsuspecting seniors that were not quite up to par, but reading today, I read plenty of letters from those who had purchased theirs, had both Android and Apple phones, etc.  Over time and looking for updated information I have updated, reset, followed any and all suggestions and nothing helps.  I can sync right before bed, check it when I put my book down, and it’s unpaired again.  I think that re-pairing it at least once an hour is a little excessive and sometimes I’ve had to pair it up again multiple times per hour as well.

Seriously am thinking that it’s time to purchase another brand since the aggravation is offsetting the pleasure of having a tracker that needs more attention than a two year old.

I see that this issue has been around some time now.

Bought my Charge 4 around 5 days ago and it is a nightmare.

Spotify not connecting, keeps asking me to resync Mobile App - doesn't work.  Then told to pair it again and then when I pair all my exercise options and cues have gone!!!

Back to Garmin for me - that has issues but nothing like this disaster-zone.

How can (Google) keep selling this piece of rubbish.

And how come reviewers never seem to mention these issues?

Thanks for replying. It’s funny - my best friend also has a Charge 4, and
his broke in some way about ten days before I got fed up with my Charge 4
connection issues.

Sorry Fitbit folks…I’m only using my Charge 4 now for the meditation app
each morning. I purchased an Apple SE, and while I am not crazy about
their tracking system, it does have other health features that are quite
interesting.

My friend just purchased a Fitbit Versa. I’ll be interested to see how
that works as time goes on.

My theory as to why this is happening is that like many other things
requiring updates, the Charge 2 and 4 have both outlived their usefulness
in the eyes of Fitbit and they are no longer wanting to deal with updates
for those of us who have been fortunate to not break or damage their
units. They would like us to “update” our old Fitbits with newer models.
I may go back to Fitbit in a couple of years, but that remains to be seen.

Hi, has there been any update to this issue? I had a charge 3 and after 1 1/2 years the pixels on the screen started to fade, so I upgraded to a 4. I've had it for about 5 months and over the last few weeks, I lose blue tooth several times a day. I've done all the steps recommended with no change.
