Charge HR not syncing to new iPhone 8 Plus

I just got the new iphone 8 Plus and it is unable to find my Charge HR thought bluetooth. I removed the Charge from the fitbit app account to try adding it back and it still won't find it through set up. I used my old iphone (also on iOS 11) and had no problem connecting to bluetooth and re-adding the charge back to my fitbit app account so this isn't an iOS 11 issue. I have no issues connecting to any other bluetooth devices with my new iphone 8. The only device I'm having the issue with is my fitbit. Please help.

Accepted Solutions

I just had the same problem and I saw the solution on another thread. What you basically wanna do is make sure it’s up to sync with your old device, then disconnect it from the app. Delete the app on old devices and go to Bluetooth settings on your old devices and make sure it’s forgotten your Fitbit.

Then on your iPhone 8 if you’ve already installed your Fitbit app delete and reinstall it, and continue the process of connecting with your new device. The blue tooth sync should work.

Great, worked with pairing my charge 2 with new iPhone 8+ despite the Fitbit helpline saying the app is not yet compatible with the 8! Thanks 🙂

Hi got iphone 8 to sync but text & phone notifications do not work, is this the case for yourself or have you got this function working to ?

Spoke to customer services who went through every test/reset option which I'd already done only to be told an hour later the iphone 8 & iphone X aren't yet supported. Can't understand why as they've both been out for over 2 months now.

Yes the text notifications work, not sure if anyone’s tried to ring me yet! Tech team told me it wasn’t supported on 8 yet too, but I followed the other procedure mentioned and all seems to be ok. You do need to make sure your Bluetooth has ‘forgotten’ the Fitbit on your old device tho, as well as just deleting the app on your old device.

I had the same problem - could not sync Charge 2 Fitbit with I phone 8. I followed your advice and deleted the app from old phone and Bluetooth setting and then reinstalled the FitBit app and it worked. Thx for the tip.

I wish I hand known all of this before I traded in my old phone. Anybody have any ideas? I have a dead Charge 2 now...

Hello everyone! I hope you're doing well. Thanks for joining us @collisionbend, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

I'm very glad most of you were able to resolve this issue following @Mocha1208's instructions. I'm very glad. Smiley Happy

@collisionbend, I understand your concern about this issue, as you don't have your old phone at hand, I would like to suggest you to set up your tracker as a new device to establish a new connection between your Charge 2 and your phone. Don't worry, none of the information already stored in your account will be deleted.

To set up your tracker as a new device:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else! Smiley Wink

I followed all the advice from other posts. I deleted the Fitbit app from my I phone 8 and then reinstalled it and then restarted the Fitbit. I also kept my old I Phone 6 and deleted the Fitbit app from that one.

“To set up your tracker as a new device:
Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.”

Issue: device was not listed.

‘Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue’

Issue: device is not visible.

“When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.”

Issue: this never happens.

“When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.”

Issue: no pop up appears.

Obviously, this is not a one of your cookie-cutter solutions...

I have never used Fitbit before and have tried everything and it simply will not sync with my I-phone 8 plus. I have made sure it is fully charge; turned Bluetooth off and back on; turned phone off and back on; deleted app and reinstalled it. No luck. Can you help figure this out ?

I had trouble syncing my Charge 2 with my old I phone 6. I called Fitbit direct and got a wonderful representative who spent 1 hr with me trying to sync it. All failed. Fitbit sent me a new Charge 2 as it was less than a year old. I suggest you call Fitbit directly. They ate most accommodating.

My app on my iPhone 8+ simply could not find my Charge 2 (BTW, the Charge 2 *is* now compatible with the 7, 7+, 8, 8+, and the X). I tried everything: I restarted the app, the phone, the Charge 2, deleted/re-downloaded the app - multiple times. It just wouldn’t connect. So I downloaded a Bluetooth detection app, and it could not find the device. I gave all of this info to Fitbit on Monday (yesterday, via Twitter), and they handed me off to a CSR who agreed that the BT had died on my Fitbit. She sent out a new unit immediately - and it shipped within the hour! According to FedEx, it’ll be here tomorrow by EoD. They asked me for a survey, so I gave them *very* high marks. They stand behind their equipment, even if it’s (a mere) 24 days out of warranty. I was thinking I’d replace it with a Motiv, but not now...
