Connected GPS issues with Blaze on iOS 11

I have been dealing with this issue for 3 weeks now, every single step has been taken to correct. Fitbit techs were unable to help me and sent me to a specialist team. We have performed so many tests I could write a book on it, everything has been checked and double checked. Finally Fitbit sent me a replacement Blaze which I received over the weekend. After two tracking attempts I have the exact same issue. It sometimes works, sometimes does not so I am convinced it is an issue between iOS 11 and the Fitbit app to Connected to GPS. It clearly is not a device issue since the brand new Blaze I just got is acting the exact same way. I have been a Fitbit user for 5 years and had nothing but high praise for the company until this last month. This needs to be fixed asap, I am seriously on the verge of making the Apple Watch switch and I know I am not the only one thinking the same thing. For someone that runs 4-5 times a week such as myself we really rely on our GPS tracking to work, not having it up and running for such a long time seems unacceptable.

Hello @Crusader, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around. Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, if you're having trouble with connected GPS and if you haven't already done so, please check the following three GPS-related settings on your iOS device:

  • Make sure your device can track your activity when you're out of wi-fi range. To do so, tap Settings > Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is on.
  • Make sure the app can track GPS when your device is locked. To do so, tap Settings > General > Background App Refresh and make sure it's on.
  • Make sure your device is able to identify your location. To do so, tap Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure it's on.

Additionally, when starting a GPS activity, turn off WiFi by going to Settings > WiFi as if you only turn it off from the Control Center it will only disconnect you from the current WiFi signal and will not turn off WiFi itself, this will prevent GPS from working correctly as your phone will be looking for a WiFi signal to connect the entire time.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

Thanks for your respons @MarcoGFitbit but all these steps have already been verified as right. I did humor the suggestions and double checked these settings. Believe me there cant possibly be anything I have checked or tried at this point. I have been working with Fitbit specialist techs for several weeks to resolve the issue.

I actually tried this, this morning and it worked

I shut down the Fitbit app, as well as shut off my WIFI and then started a run on my Blaze, GPS tracking worked. I will continue to try this method to see if it keeps working. I have a walk planned for later today and my morning run tomorrow so I have two opportunities to test GPS over the next 24 hours. This is obviously a temp fix and not a solution but if it works it is better than nothing until Fitbit can get the issue resolved for good.
