Distance appears as 0 after sync

ANSWERED

Hello, wondering if you can help. My charge 5 stopped tracking kms. It records step counts but kms do not appear. Anything I should do to have this back to normal? Thanks, Sara

Sounds like a different issue. Mine wasn't counting at all unless I started an activity. You could try manually entering your walking and running stride.Sent from my Galaxy

Hi RebPet

Thanks for the idea but have tried that and it just replicates over random days then disappears next time the App is opened. It’s all a total mess of Googles own doing, probably lack of investment/just not bothered.

Me too - been bounced to this post after I raised the same query!
Tried to suggest it was that I was doing casual or occasional walking; which this isn’t!!

Useful to know this is a much wider issue because I just keep getting to install the latest update (like I’d not have done that), remove the app, clear the cache (and lose all my historical day), restart the app!

Was fine when I could access the dashboard now that gone too!!!

Doing a charity event to track miles over a month and this is beyond useless to me for what is a basic function for a fitness device.

I’m no longer using my Fitbit. Given up. Moved to another type and am very happy

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and now my distance is stuck at 0km!!! Google you have destroyed a perfectly well functioning app!

Yeah seems like nobody on the customer service side of things really knows how to sort the issue and they are simply stabbing in the dark!
nine is stuck on 0.3miles now, and half my old data is interchangeable and not correct!!
mill be investing elsewhere I think after reading all of this!

Increasingly frustrated with my Charge 6. I tried the suggested "work around", which seemed to work for 4 days, but today it is recording 0.7 miles for about 10000 steps. The thing that is most frustrating is the complete disregard shown by Google. No responses, feedback or progress report. Last Google product I will ever buy.

I had the same problem that the distance remained at 0 throughout the day. And manually entering the stride length solved that issue. @JuanFitbit Thanks for your help.

It worked for me initially, and then reverted.

Update:

Automatic stride length works when running, but not when walking....Value changes when running but not when walking(still ---).

Walking exercise is fairly low....a real journey 530 meters = measured 380, 1700 meters=1170 at same time, it is strange that watch shows fewer kilometers than app 8,91/10,74

It's strange how this can't be fixed

---------

Update 2:

Cloudy weather and a 20-minute walk--->GPS not connected=measured distance 0 meters.

So the previous day walk was wrong because of that GPS sometimes jumped from one place to another, but when running, it works because the GPS +length of running work together.

--------

Update 3:

It has started kind of working, but values keep changing and still Sense shows 0.00

Stride length is set automatic

Update 4:

In a way it works, in a way it doesn't: A normal walk of about 2750 meters...not exercise mode.

Fitbit app has started using some value to calculate distance. what? I don't know=walking step length is still --- but Sense shows still 0.0

yep, after sync, phone app looks like showing some kind of km (tho, not acurate, like used to be). But watch still showing 0,00 km... sad 😞

Is there an update to this issue? It’s now 15/9/2024 and I can’t find a resolution.

Best Answer

Still nothing I assume, what a sh** show... I've set my stride length as best I can, but it's not accurate, which means every run I go on isn't accurate, fitbit has one job!!
I tried to change it back to automatic today it looks like it's registered my 'extra' walking miles on the app, but not on my watch! Who knows. Gonna look into buying something else I think cause this is ridiculous.

Same. After adjusting stride length, if I run slowly 5K shows up at 3.38K if I run faster 5k is 4.48K 😕 it is really very frustrating. Especially as I have been a fitbit user since 2014 and never had a problem till now.

I ran an organised half marathon yesterday, with a chip. At 21km, the fitbit only recorded just over 20km. That was with the run activity started and GPS. Here was I thinking I'd been running slowly for the last few months.

Agreed! Still no resolution or feedback. Get ready for your comment to be
deleted due to you being unhappy. Fitbit doesn’t take kindly to
constructive criticism.

A new update showed up on my iPhone today. No resolution. I thought it was working because it showed my steps from today - but there was nothing else - no weekly / monthly - and yearly data stops at August 26.

So - I have no idea what that 400mb update is suppose to provide / but one thing is for sure - it’s not a resolution to the sync issue.

It would be the professional thing to do for Google to let the users know what’s going on and what to expect by way of a fix.

Has there been any update on this??

I have been following closely, and haven't seen anything. As of yesterday, my 4 month old Charge 6 isn't giving a Readiness score either. Tried all the usual suggested fixes, and still nothing. Last straw for me with Google products, and another make is on order.
