Doesn't know I'm biking

The thing stops tracking when I start going up hill. It doesn't know I'm biking not running. My iPhone knows that. Why is the heart rate graph such poor resolution?  Since it won't tell me where I was or the elevation during my ride, both of which it knows but won't tell me, the least it could do is show me my heart rate by time in better resolution so I could use other data to figure out what was going on myself. But I thought this Fitbit charge 2 was supposed to be helpful. What I want is a coordinated view of my heart rate, the elevation change (showing how hard I'm working) my location and the time, on a graph that I can zoom in. Can this do that?  If not, what app will?

Hello @Dickf

Since you mentioned you have a Fitbit Charge 2, I think the best way to go about this would be to use the exercise mode on your Fitbit, set it to biking and then do your activity. Since that option uses Connected GPS you would have to take your iPhone with you. To make sure that your GPS information is tracked, please do the following:

  1. Open Settings and tap Cellular.
  2. Make sure Cellular Data is turned on.
  3. Next, ensure that your GPS can continue tracking when your phone is locked: Open Settings and tap General.
  4. Tap Background App Refresh, find the Fitbit app, and make sure it is turned on.
  5. Lastly, make sure your phone can identify your location. Open Settings and tap Privacy.
  6. Tap Location Services and make sure it’s turned on.
  7. Find Fitbit in the app list and make sure it's set to While Using the App or Always.

Once everything is set up, follow these steps to track a biking activity:

  1. On your tracker, press the button until you get to the Exercise screen.
  2. Tap to find the Biking activity.
  3. Press and hold the button to start the exercise. If you see a phone icon at the top, that exercise offers connected GPS and your device is connected to a GPS signal. If the phone icon has a line through it that means your tracker is not connected to your phone or your phone is not connected to a GPS signal. If the phone icon has an animated dashed line next to it, that means your device is trying to find a GPS signal.
  4. During your workout, tap your tracker to scroll through your real-time stats or check the time of day.
  5. To pause your workout, press the button. Then press the button again to resume the exercise.
  6. To finish the tracking, press and hold the button once again. You should get a little celebration on the tracker.
  7. Press the button to see a summary of your results. With each button press you’ll cycle to a different set of stats. You can view your exercise summary one time.

I hope you find this useful! Let me know if you have any further questions.
