Exercise not being recorded on Fitbit app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit app is no longer recording any exercise. For example this morning I went for a walk and started my versa 3 with gps to record the exercise.  It is showing on my versa 3 but will not show on the app. Likewise I did a treadmill session at lunchtime, started my versa 3 and it recorded the session but won’t show on the app.
I’m on an iPhone 12 running iOS 17.6.1

fitbit app version 4.24

I have so far done the following:

updated the app and moved over to google
force closed the app and restarted

turned my phone off and on

restarted my versa 3.
None of this has helped so now my versa 3 is pretty useless.
I was looking to upgrade to a versa 4 but not if this continues.
How do I get my exercise logs back please?

It's getting worse. Tonight I lost 3 exercise sessions from this week, including the 1 I did the screenshot of in my message 8 hrs ago.  It makes the fitbit a bit useless.

Same issue here, any activity whether automatically detected or manually added - which am having to do mostly as the auto tracking is way off, shows all heart rate to be 100% in the light zone not correlating to the graph being majority of time in moderate/vigorous zones. Updated iOS, app & restarted - no difference…

Mine worked once accurately, then intermittently. Totally unreliable and inconsistent. Today I walked and climbed for hours and the app recorded just 28 minutes of activity. Despair of what to do next. Any suggestions?

I’m lucky because I never subscribed to the Premium option of this app, but it's a pain because I have 2 "charge 2" watches that don't work 😾. A refund appears difficult because I had these devices for a long time. Anyway I think it was much better when it was managed directly by Fitbit.  we’ll see what happens in the next few days. 🤞 (ps. Sorry for my english 😊)

No suggestion unfortunately 😿it  seems that when it was managed by Fitbit directly, it was much better. For me, it's since August 26th I think, that the application no longer records data. And I'm sure it's the app because I tried it with two different watches.…I guess we have to wait and see. What else… (ps Sorry for my english 😊)

Exactly the same for me with a charge 2 watch. I also have an iPhone 12. I tried with two charge 2 watches and it's the same. Hopefully with the many complaints the developers will do the right thing 🤞

Hi Juan

As far as I'm concerned, it's since August 25 that the watch no longer records activities with GPS and since September 9, no more activity. I have of course done all the necessary updates and I tried with two watches it has a very big bug. Important I also noticed that the watch refused to update. It is really necessary to correct it now because apparently, there are many of us in this situation.Thank you

Hi

Thank you for your post,  yes I know but as I thought that the 2 issues were linked, I talked about it. So we will look forward to read you again

Also having the same issues. It seems to auto recognise some workouts but the app won’t reflect the workouts I’ve logged on my charge 2 watch

Hi Juan,.

Any feedback? Last update 4.27 has not resolved the issue. Are Fitbit working on another update to fix the issue?

@JuanFitbit, I updated yesterday to Version 4.28; it is still not fixed. Manually started and ended activities are still not showing up in the app.

This is happening to me too - I work out nearly five days a week and have been consistently doing so for the last four months, yet many days that previously had workouts logged now show no activity.

This is troubling, particularly since some of this data includes GPS and map information, which is personal and sensitive. I'm concerned about how Fitbit is managing our data. If workouts, locations, and steps can disappear without notice, this raises questions about both the integrity and security of Fitbit’s data handling practices.

Why can't Fitbit provide an explanation for this data loss? Transparency is crucial, especially when dealing with personal health and location data. seems to me Fitbit aren't taking this seriously at all

For those interested, I have been using Runkeeper (now owned by Asics but it is still managed quite well despite the buy out unlike certain other fitness apps that will go unmentioned) for over 12 years and Fitbit for nine years.  Use of both apps, Runkeeper and Fitbit, has given me a fairly comprehensive view of my health and fitness over the years.  Now that Fitbit appears to be crapping the bed at least with some of the older trackers anyway, I connected my Runkeeper account to Fitbit last week.  Nothing happened -- at first.  But this evening, my Fitbit data started migrating over to Runkeeper.  Fitbit only shares some of its data with Runkeeper but so far I have my steps, calories and sleep hours...... in Runkeeper, from my Charge 2. And that ain't bad.  Runkeeper has both Freemium and Premium levels and might be a good idea for those on Fitbit and afraid of losing their data. To at least retain some of it in one useful location. I realize you can also download Fitbit data but have heard some folks saying the download product is not that user friendly.  Just a thought.

Hi Juan,

Any updates? Manually logged exercises on the watch are still not showing up in the app. It’s quite frustrating and makes me think that the company is just trying to get people to buy upgrades instead of fixing the app

Upgraded to latest Version 4.29 and exercise sessions are still missing from the app.

This has been a problem for over two months. When, oh when, will Fitbit finally fix it?

Best Answer

My app has not recorded my workouts or heart rate zones accurately since 9/24. I am so frustrated that I have a perfectly working device and a crummy app, so can’t track my fitness data. I just upgraded to 4.29 tonight and still not working. When will this be fixed? I am ready to ditch all Fitbit stuff and I have been a loyal customer for many years. Fix it, Fitbit!

I'm with you, bud. Once my Sense 2 needs replacing, I'm sure gonna look
elsewhere.

This is an update to my original post:  I'm still unable to manually start walks from my Fitbit Surge and see them show up in the Fitbit App on my iPhone.  They never fixed this problem.  Therefore, I just replaced my Fitbit with another brand that starts with "G".  Not Google.

Hi everybody! Thank you for your messages and feedback.

According to your messages the v4.29 did not solve the issue. Our team has been informed and they are still working on a solution for this.

If you all could provide the phone model and the iOS version used, it would be very helpful. (eg. iPhone 14 plus, iOS17.1.3. iPhone 12 iOs 17.3.2, etc)
