Is there a way to export one's weight log from inception or by year? There does not seem to be a method to input an date range longer than 31 days.

@SunsetRunner Welcome! It's nice to have you on board!

Let me help you with your data export. You can either export 31 days or the lifetime data on your account based on the help article. You can find instructions on how to do this here.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the information. Yet, when I extract the zip file, most of the data cannot be read. The zip file broke out as follows:

1. Challenges: this broke out into a bunch of CSV files that were meaningless once exported into EXCEL. I expected all the data in one CSV file NOT individual days

2. Coach: had two files with .JSON extensions that I cannot read

3. User Profile: included my avatar

4. User Site Report: Has a bunch of .JSON extensions

I read the User manual, too and no where does it address these file formats.  But I think you already knew this.

Has anyone else downloaded data and successfully converted the .JSON extensions.

Any suggestions on next steps?

Alvaro:  Can you assist in this or should I be contacting Customer Support? I've been trying to ascertain how to extrapolate this download into a readable format with no success.

1. When I change the .JSON extension to .TXT the file become unusable. As an example, this is how it is interpreted:

"achievement": {
"created_at": "2013-01-30T03:54:25Z",
"description": "Placed Into Level 6 Core",
"name": "Level 6 Core",
"updated_at": "2017-01-03T23:43:37Z"

2. When I open a single .CSV row, none of the information is useful. For example:

challenge_idtypetype_compositestartendachievement_type
5d7e16e4-c412-11e8-bf78-0cc47ad33fe3WEEKENDWEEKEND2018-09-29T04:00:00.000+00:002018-10-01T04:00:00.000+00:00

Just exactly where am I going wrong?  With nothing documented, this is frustrating. thank you

Alvaro:  Can I conclude by the lack of response that this is an issue being investigated? I have not contacted customer support yet because I was hoping to see a recommended fix or be informed that this is a known issue.  Do you need additional information?

Alvaro: I've had two chat sessions which were interesting. Are you aware of this issue? This experience confirms what I've been thinking regarding what Moderators and Fitbit is willing to communicate.  I have copies of the the transcripts that mention this was forwarded to a 'special' department; was promised a call that never occurred. I will never understand the silence or non response when a User goes to the trouble of documenting issues that are not acknowledged.  I give up.

@SunsetRunner Apologies for any mixed messages - we understand that you'd like to evaluate the information found in the your data export, and we definitely want to give you a clear response around this.

At this time we aren't able to recommend a specific tool to do this. While we aren't able to provide a solution for reading JSON at this time, we'll continue to receive and incorporate customer feedback into future versions of our data export tool.

Did you figure this out?

No; the experience dealing with Fitbit on this issue was too frustrating. I never used the reporting function because the exported data could was not In useful form. You may want to download the current User manual to see if they address exporting data. Good luck

I just used the website to view all the data available by clicking "show
more" over and over until I got to my first entry (only 5 years). Then
copied all the entries and pasted it into excel in a horrible format.
Luckily I know excel well enough to write a few simple formulas to extract
and format what I needed... Now I can't get it to upload into Garmin. But
Garmin's weight reports are garbage. I'll just use TrendWeight.com from now
on. It's the best I know of.

It is highly disappointing that Fitbit doesn't provide a way to export weight data in a useable(!) format. Thanks for sharing your workaround. I tried your method, and used a variety of Filter and Find/Replace actions to manipulate the data into a useable format. Took about 20min. We shouldn't have to do this.

I’ve decided to somehow export my Fitbit weight data and replace my (broken) Aria scales with a non-Fitbit product. Fitbit support simply washed their hands of older products. Is it ok for scales to last 4 yrs only? I wouldn’t think so.

After almost a decade of being a Fitbit customer, having purchased numerous Fitbit devices, I’ve decided to call it a day.

Not a single Fitbit product we purchased (of which there were at least 7) has ist lasted more than 4 years. Now I’m struggling to export my own weight data in a easily consumable format. It’s just not good enough.

I completely understand your frustrations and agree with your decision. I’ve been following this thread because not having the ability to export data in a readable format is unacceptable. Clearly, this function is not a priority for the developers.
