My Fitbit charge HR begins to sync, gets halfway through, then stops syncing. I've turned off blue tooth, rebooted my phone.
Any other suggestions?

While I appreciate the info, and this is not directed at you as a person but rather my frustration with purchasing a product that does not work and FitBit is unable to provide a solution. Clearly, like myself, others have tried these "work-arounds" many times. First of all, why are we, as the consumers, having to navigate the workarounds? Isn't that the product developers responsibility? And why are there no other solutions yet available when this is a very common problem that is well documented all over the Help pages and the App review pages? This is borderline fraud. I have a good mind to contact the Better Business Bureau if there is no resolution soon. FitBit cannot take our money for products that don't deliver the services it claims, and that we paid for. I loved my Fitbit... when it worked. Find a solution and own up to the nonsense and inform us all what FitBit is doing to make it better, and you will earn my loyalties back.

Yep - Can’t believe it is still working! It is back to its original self (and now, so am I). I did find that what made a difference with the factory reset was that when it said “disconnect the fitbit from the charger” I was just unplugging the whole thing from my computer, or the power point, whichever I happened to be using at the time. Last time I did just as it said, and took the fitbit off the charger (leaving the charger attached to the computer) and it worked, following the instructions on the YouTube video - this may well have been coincidence though….... I empathise entirely with all those people out there still struggling and cursing Fitbit - believe me, I know exactly how you feel. I wasted hours of my time trying to sort mine out and I really hope it all comes right for you too. And if Fitbit could publish more information about it - ways to resolve, what they are actually doing to help etc., maybe people wouldn’t feel so let down, frustrated and angry.

One thing that worked for me is to not allow the phone to go to sleep mode.

I keep touching the screen often while the sync is in progress.

Mine did the same thing, Finishing up never stopped.  It is so weird.  I go thru all of the many steps , get discouraged and then around 11:30 pm , it syncs all on its own.  Crazy!  My husband has a Galaxy 3 and his syncs all day long.  Mine does not even though I have it on all day sync.

Also, cannot get the time to show the date too.  It is set on that setting buy will NOT show the date.

I just tried reinstalling my tracker and it's in an endless loop saying "finishing up". My clock and syncing issues began after my tracker went totally dead and I recharged it. It seems to be losing a little more time each day.

Good News!!

I left my tracker next to my phone while it was "finishing up". After almost 30 minutes it was done and I have now synced. Everything seems to be back to normal.

I probably shouldn't wade into this debate, but as a software engineer (not for Fitbit), I can tell you that most of the problems people are experiencing with syncing are not actually Fitbit's fault.  Bluetooth pairing is great when it works, annoying when it fails.  Anyone who has multiple bluetooth devices quickly learns some of the ins and outs of pairing.  A few suggestions if your sync isn't working reliably :

1).  No phone on the market has 100% reliable bluetooth pairing.  Just like a computer, it has to be restarted from time to time.  Easiest way to soft restart a phone (in terms of connections to devices/networks/bluetooth) is going into and then out of airplane mode.

2).  Make sure your Fitbit is charged.  Low power Fitbits can sync, but full power Fitbits are far more likely to sync successfully.

3).  Do not attempt a sync beside your wifi router.  If you have wireless devices using the same spectrum, it can interfere with bluetooth pairing.  Same applies to USB3 ports.  If you pair right beside a laptop with a USB3 port, that may interfere with bluetooth.  Also, get away from other bluetooth devices, for instance another person's cell phone you are not trying to pair with.  Bluetooth protocol operates at 2.4 GHz, just like many people's cordless phones, routers, wifi, etc.

4).  If that all fails, then delete the Fitbit from your phone and readd it (Cajunqt88's solution).  The reason this works is that the iPhone stores pairing information for that device, and generally only has to do this once.  But if that information gets corrupted or somehow altered, the pairing will not occur but your phone will just keep trying it.  The easiest way to reset it is to simply delete the device, and readd it.

Bluetooth is terrific, generally it works extremely well with limited user intervention.  But like all technology, it can fail and need help restoring itself.  Think of it like a computer, these days they rarely crash, but still do every once in a while.  Same with bluetooth.  In fact, bluetooth is more suceptible because Apple is constantly tinkering with it in iOS updates.  You could have successfully synced with 9.1 but then failed with iOS 9.2.  Nothing changed on the Fitbit side, but suddenly you have issues.  Again, easiest way to fix this is to remove your device from your phone, and pair it again after the iOS upgrade.  That way, if Apple has modified in any way how a device is paired or how the pairing information is stored, you end up with the latest version designed for the updated OS.

Hope this helps a bit, bluetooth pairing issues are not limited to Fitbit, believe me.

Hi everybody,

If you are having any sort of trouble syncing your tracker to your iOS device, I would recommend:

1. Restarting your tracker.

2. Reboot your iOS device.

3. Open your iOS settings > turn off Bluetooth for 10 seconds > and then turn Bluetooth back on.

4. Open the Fitbit App to initiate a sync.

Another great resource that a lot of people have found helpful is the "What's wrong with my Charge HR?" help article.

Hope this helps!

tburd,

That's what worked for me. Mine got to the "finishing up" status and ultimately took about 30 minutes to complete but everything is working normal now.

I have onlyhad this FitBit for 2 weeks and I'm already having problems.  I removed the device and uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my Galaxy S6 and now it won't even recognize my fitbit to add the device.  This is really annoying.  So now what?
