Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the App store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/22

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

@Arcticsnow17 it is in the same place. Tap in your photo or pull the dashboard down and tap in your tracker.

@Srwbaggett74 let's go to your profile settings. where you will see your Fitbit email address.

Are we asked for feedback before anything is spread over the whole community? My whole family use fitbits and I am the only one with the new layout. It’s truly terrible and if I’m honest has actually reduced my use of the app - I just check figures on my watch. It looks cheaper, more basic, less user friendly, lacking in character (smiling moon face) - it’s like moving from windows 10 back to NT. I really do hate it

I still do not have the new dashboard what’s up with the roll out

I think that idea sounds great! Allow different versions of the dashboard. I can’t see that a lot of people are responding well to these changes but there must be someone out there who likes it 😂

This new dashboard is A massive step backwards. The sneak peak feature no longer works, there is no logic in the inconvenient way that challenges are ordered. Unanswered Invitations, completed challenges, active challenges and soon to start challenges - they are all mixed in together. It’s a mess.

The Today page is just too crowded. Much better how it was, to have the main Dashboard separate to the Challenges page. Too much scrolling is required, only made worse by the jumbled order of the challenges.

I really hate this.

Why was a dashboard that worked and made sense replaced with this.

I wasnt even given a choice as to whether to upgrade or not. I knew from what I was hearing from users that had already updated that it was a disaster, so if given a choice, I would  not have upgraded.

Also, even before I upgraded, my PB’s started to disappear. I’m now earning new PB’s way below the level I had worked hard to earn before. I know fitbit is aware of this, as many friends have told me they’ve complained about it.

Please listen to the huge feedback you’ve been receiving regarding the new layout, the lack of a working sneak peak feature and the PB issue and please fix this.

PLEASE.

There is a huge opportunity to cypher out the few items that work in the regressive “update” of the app and integrate them into the previous interface. Sadly, the powers that be seem to be missing that opportunity

I called Fitbit today about a persistent issue with the calorie tracking where the calories left for the day show different numbers on the dashboard than when you click through to the food tracking. Their solution? To use my computer instead because there is nothing left they can do. They know it doesn’t work and he had no options for me. So I suggested they let people move back to the old version at the very least until they smooth out the kinks with the new one. Unfortunately I’m only speaking to a phone line tech not a decision maker. He suggested I literally bring my computer everywhere and stop using my phone app...that’s not a solution.

Like everyone else, I was opted into

this without warning, and frankly, it's a terrible user experience. I have a flex 2 for simplicity. This app is not simple, or intuitive. The redesign took a sleek, final layout and made it less visually attractive as well as harder to navigate/less time efficient. Particulars for your developers below, although I've learned over the last few years that they don't care about feedback, won't change the broken functionality they keep implementing, and pretty much ignore all of the very valid complaints this community has.

- the switch from one colour theme to lots of little graphics with disparate colours is visually awful

- the switch from tiles to a list is TERRIBLE; previously I could see my stats on one screen. Why on earth would anyone want to scroll?

- clicking into my sleep stats gives a very squashed up bar that runs barely half the width of my screen and is now useless to see sleep patterns with

- sleep also used to default to hours slept, now it defaults to sleep score which is irrelevant on a flex 2, I never have a score recorded.

- the home screen takes ages to load and goes through a 2-3 second reload EVERY time you click into a detailed stats screen and then back to home. Why?

- the home screen also refreshes constantly while I'm in app, instead of just on pull-down.

Overall, the only good thing about this change is that I can see how much battery percentage is left, and I would give that up in a heartbeat to have the older version back. This is truly some awful redesign. I also have serous concerns about iOS 10 users being stuck on 2.95, as that will surely eventually stop functioning. Looks like it's Garmin shopping time to me.

Totally agree. Absolutely hate the new look. Old dashboard was so much easier to read at a glance and all the info we want as Fitbit users was there. Definately considering dropping Fitbit altogether and going with a company that actually allows its users to choose NOT be made to suffer their so called improvements

Hear Hear. And you won’t be the only customer they lose. I agree Fitbit **ahem** well change the dashboard back!!!!

Best Answer

Didn’t ask for it. Don’t like it.

Looks cheap, and less user-friendly.

Might just go and buy a Garmin.....

Please create an option for people to switch back to the old dashboard. I personally don’t enjoy the new dashboard as much as the old version and it makes me want to switch brands for a home dashboard I enjoy, even though I have always preferred Fitbit over other smart watch brands. 😔

I've noticed this same issue with mine. I think its a bug with the app, not sure though.

Sorry @sebastian747 but with all the different things above, and reference to which post being referred to, I'm not sure of the same issue that your experiencing?

I'm sorry @Rich_Laue . I was referring to a post talking about syncing troubles after updating the dashboard. My bad.

Please give me my old dashboard back. I do not like the new one that was forced on me. Everyone I know still has the old version. The new version of the dashboard is not user friendly and is difficult to navigate. Please don't tell me with time  you hope that I get used to it . I am telling you I am not going to be forced to use something I find unpleasant. If I want to get used to something new I will look elsewhere. In my opinion the rollout of the new dashboard is an epic fail.

I agree. Wasn't asked about the new Dashboard, don't like it and would prefer the old one. Don't change things that are working fine - it only annoys people

Has the number of challenges we can be in decreased?  This new layout does not allow me to start a new challenge. It’s greyed our and says I’m at my challenge limit, even though I am not. If the rematch button is there, I can hit that to start a challenge, but I can’t start one from fresh. A whole bunch of people in challenges with me say the same.

Also, re the jumbled up mess that the challenges are ordered in - I have found a way to manually sort them (a huge nuisance to have to do this) but when I woke up the next day, all my manual sorting was undone. Back to a the jumbled  mess.

Why, Fitbit, why?
